Sony Ericsson R306 Radio review: Stay tuned
Sony Ericsson R306 Radio is quite unusually set to revolve around one single thing - listening to radio on-the-go. Its built-in radio tuner works in both FM and AM. The lower midrange R306 Radio delivers on other fronts too - it packs a 1.3 megapixel camera...

I don't normally complain about low-end phones cos I use them quite a lot and they all seem to be reasonably reliable, speaking from experience. However, this particular one drives me crazy. After using the unit for less than a month, it began to freeze a few times per day from the initial once or twice per week. Firmware upgrade doesn't help, let alone master reset. I purchased the unit when on holiday abroad and so its warranty is void when I'm back home. Pretty helpless now. I thought I was the only one having such a problem but not after reading what others have said.
The quality of this phone is simply a failure. Don't rely on it even for what it's basically for. Now going back to my good old Nokia.

I live in the US and listen to Talk Radio all the time. This has been the perfect phone for me.
I use my phone for the basic purpose of Talking / Answering calls. Business Conference calls while driving and SMS/Text if its really needed. The voice quality and speaker phone is amazing.
If you need a phone for the above basic purpose you wont find a better phone than this.
Lot of people use their phone for too many unnecssary purposes and these people find a way to whine about even the best smartphone out there.

I think its strange SE never released pictures of the open flip as I think it looks good.
I am disappointed there are so many drawbacks of this phone that I did not expect...

The SIDE and HUGE jack is SO UGLY and uncomfortable!
Why Nokia puts headsed jack on the top always and SE don't think about customers' comfort? All their phones have jack on the side. Ewww

Oh, I just realised that it is indeed mentioned that the phone is a "pre-release handset"...

This is a low-end phone guys... What do you expect this to be??? A Radio version of W910??? The answer is a big NO...
The only thing I feel is a minus is the Track ID thing??? GSM Arena, is this a proto unit or a final production one??? It's a bit wierd why is there track id when it can't be used with the radio as that is it's purpose and nothing else???

I am big SE fan but after reading this review... R306 should not be made :/
TrackID is great with radio on some other SE models.
If they went for old radio look then they should use telescopic antena...
Interface incosistency...
and almost everything else :/
Idea and design are good and i hope that next radio phone from SE would be better and more logic.
