Nokia N78 preview: First Look
The Nokia N78 boasts a 3 megapixel autofocus camera, Symbian OS with the latest S60 Feature pack 2, built-in GPS receiver, Wi-Fi, the intriguing Navi wheel navigation solution and an FM transmitter. All those features are enough to make it a worthy successor of the highly popular and capable Nokia N73. Of course, with a similar feature set, Nokia N82 will rival the Nokia N78.

Yeah, GSMArena can turn down Nokia, SE and anyone else as well, if they want to do so. But keep in mind that manufacturers dont have to assemble their phones properly nor test them before launching. And why? Because market fluctuates so fast that most people buy the "perfect" phone on Monday and replace it with something better on Tuesday.

why GSMarena give bad impression with the N78 because Nokia N series are high end mobile phone, thus Nokia should build it with high ergonomic and build quality to suit the high price tag

I can't see the method how ArenaGuys evaluate the weight of a phone. As far as I remember they considered SE G502 too light with its 83g and now N78 is heavy with 101g? Then what is ideal?

nokia is going downhill in my books. seems like every phone looks like the N81 now. an ugly design and a finger print magnet. give us matte colors and a different keypad config and I'll buy a new nokia soon. otherwise, SE is where its at.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-06-04 13:02 from TjQUHuh, I thought C702's keypad and camera are better (although the N78 is still a LOT better in terms of video recording). I think the material on the N78 is better as the C702 feels cheap. But GSM arena are right about the keypad on the N78, it feels very awkward and so do the call keys.

Read some of the unbiased in-depth reviews:
http://www.mobile-review.com/r...n78-en.shtml
http://smape.com/en/reviews/no...N78-rev.html
both mention good enough keypad ergonomics and allround in-hand feeling. But GSMArena is offended by Nokia, so their review comes as negative...

Read SE C702 Review. Its keypad is just a nightmare, same goes to C902: very hard to press. Do you guys mention this? Nokia n78 keys are small (very much like SE W880i) but have perfect tactile feedback, they are easy to type.
And some more facts:
SE C702:
106 x 48 x 15.5 with 2,2 screen, no wi-fi, worse camera module
Nokia N78:
113 x 49 x 15.1 with bigger 2,4 screen, wi-fi, FM transmitter and it is a smartphone after all
Some qoutes from GSMArena review:
SE: "Sony Ericsson C702 is not among the slimmest phones, at 15.5 mm thick, yet relatively lightweight at 105 grams. Generally, we are pleased with the ergonomics of the handset."
Nokia: "Nokia N78 packs the bar form factor measuring 113 x 49 x 15.1mm. Those, combined with the weight of 101.8g make it look slightly on the larger side."
"The wobbly back panel, the uncomfortable keypad and the not very comfortable call and end keys aren't exactly what you would expect from a 350 euro handset."
C702 have even worse keypad, check by yourself, and comparable pricing. But this wasn't mentioned.

Well NOkia is making their 2nd generation Nseries phs similar looks. Start from N82, with this N78 and N96 etc. Most of ppl think the design is boring. But for me, Nokia make the right decision. The design is clean and very futuristic. But front and especially back plastic panels should replace with metal and that will make complete design.

I've seen the build quality remarks come up in other reviews but I think the size criticism is a bit unfounded, it has a lot of stuff packed in and it's really not that big.

I had the N82 for a couple of days an the phones to plasticky i think as Nokia use to build more solid mobiles,ok the camera seems to attract people, but your not using it all the time an with me having the Black 8gb N95 the screen size an video quality on this mobile made me send the N82 back to Orange, the N78 will be built in the same sort of housing an the keypads might be big mistake from Nokia i think as the type of buttons on the old N73 would have been better on the N78 to attract people to buy it,so alot of people will be reading the reviews an thoughts about the keypad before deciding to get the N78

worst Gsm arena Preview i have ever seen in recent times.Im an SE user, and this preview has is just so rubbish.
First of all whats with weight i mean its just 101 gms compared to SE c702 which is 105gms, and n78 has more features packed in , Looks like gsm arena was in hurry or angry with nokia. And if the Gsm team doesn't live up to professional review, it would start loosing visitors.
