LG KF750 Secret review: No secret, all guts

LG KF750 Secret review: No secret, all guts - read the full textOne thing we know about the LG KF750 Secret is that it's hard to resist. Keeping it hush is not an option. The handset seems to have it all - turn-head exterior, top-notch skill and a few exotic extras to spice things up. Looks have long been the defining feature of the Black Label series by LG. Now, the Secret brings some muscle to tip the form vs. content scale the other way...

What OS does the Secret use?

I have had this phone for about a month, already i am on the third battery and second phone. The battery life is worse than a phone that is on its last legs and its brand new. It lasts about a day an half (and thats hardly using it) and the battery sign is no indication whatsoever of how much battery life is left, once your on 2 bars you have about 20 minutes til its dead. i have to have a charger at home and work and carry my old LG battery from my old phone in my bag.
The touch screen is pretty annoying too, i find it very sensitive which means you constantly have to cancel out of things which you go into by mistake.
If there is any advice - DO NOT GET THIS PHONE!!! i had the chance to change it as i had been back to the shop 3 times, stupidly i didnt and i am now stuck with it for the next 18 months. Great!!!

> In reply to secret @ 2008-06-12 07:15 from ibeJHOORAY! Secret is finally in Malaysia and I will be the 1st to own it in Ipoh tomorrow. $300 more expensive that the Viewty but given it's solid built, I think it's worth it because I hate wasting money changing phones every 12 to 18 months. Sony C905 has all the features I ever wanted but only available end of this year, who's fault is it?

After a long struggle with this phone and calling the LG customer services they told me that the phone can only take short videos because they only get saved to the phone's memory. Well a miracle happened as i accidentally hit a button and got it to save videos to the external card as a default. The way to do this is to go into settings and once you are in there with the phone held horizontally, hit the right button and it brings you new options. This is not mentioned in the guide and 2 different LG people told me that this wasn't possible.

Videos have to be kept short because the phone does not save them to the external memory card. They get automatically saved to the phone's internal memory. You have to move each video manually to the memory card to create space. This is a slow and frustrating process.

Just got this phone and already found that this phone has serious flaws.

It is not possible for videos to be automatically saved to the external memory card even though it says it can in the guide.

The instruction manual is very brief.

The PC software did not let me import my contacts.

It is not possible to delete the ringtones that come with the phone.

It is not possible to delete all the text messages from your inbox in one go.

it would be nice if gsm-arena would put 5mp showdown.

like secret vs. c902 or any other 5mp camera phone

This reminds me of the Sony ericsson W960i.
It has nice advantages but has a lot of disadvantages too.
I hope this wouldn't turn to be like that.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-06-11 19:29 from uC4eYeah, that was my earlier intention too. I believe Secret will be out within the next 30 days. Although price of Viewty has dropped to RM1700, we still have no idea how much Secret will cost. We can't make a good decision until we know the price difference. I will be forced to get the Viewty if Secret is costlier. Let's wait and see.

I work in a mobile phone shop and had the opportunity to test the Secret when the LG rep dropped by... It's definitely worth the asking price. The camera is awesome and the M-TOY (whilst a gimmick) is a neat touch.

I would like to share some cons which is not highlighted in this review:
1. Battery life - the battery level indicator is not measured according to remaining energy. It just signals you to get the phone charge as soon as you see a charger nearby; when there is 2 bars left.
2. Touchscreen does not response well to zooming when viewing picture gallery.
3. Auto picture rotating sometimes shrinks the pic into portrait when you are viewing landscape.

I am not sure about you, but I can still live with these pesky problems. I just can't wait to get my hands on it when release in Malaysia.

LG has the best phones on paper....
BUT they have NO customer support, and WON'T fix any glitch after the phone is released. They just move on to the next gimmick phone... I'm having that experience with my viewty right now.

Having used all LG Samsung and SE only regular basis now, I say SE is most reliable, and most user friendly one out of the bunch. Nokia is just plain ugly, so no thanks....
