HTC Touch Diamond vs. Samsung i900 Omnia: Head-to-Head

HTC Touch Diamond vs. Samsung i900 Omnia: Head-to-Head - read the full textIt’s PocketPC playoffs and HTC are giving Samsung a match at the GSM Arena. With two of the stars of the season arriving in our office all at once, we thought it’s a heck of an opportunity for some Diamond-Omnia-Diamond-Omnia-Diamond-Omnia game-set-match. We got two aces up to the challenge, so sit back and stretch out. Ah well, get that six-pack too and join us for the kick-off...

Dear All, a friend of mine has the Omnia and i have taken a look at it and used it for 10 min. (he works for Samsung)
The touch screen is the same of iphone, i used the prototype but it was very very close. plus, you get instant response from the phone which i mostly appreciate about a phone

Also, you get two interfaces, the one from samsung and the one from Windows Mobile. U dont feel like you are using a windows mobile unless you ask for it and go to the windows mobile interface.

Its weighs more but its worth it. I shall get to see a final version tomorrow. if any questions, please ask. am glad to help.

> In reply to Jerz @ 2008-07-16 10:18 from 0@SI - click to readI have been using the HTC Diamond for two weeks. The response of the touchscreen is a bit slow. Anyway, regarding your Q on the mini USB port. Although, the slot on the phone does not look like the standard mini USB (because one of the edge is not tapered), The phone still can accept the standard mini USB cable. So, YES can be used. Cheers!

To GSMArena Team

I found on a website http://smartmania.mobilmania.c...gle&ide=1030 that says the GPS chipset for samsung i900 omnia is Sirf Star III, is it true ? Also, how does the speed and accuracy of the gps navigation system compare on the Diamond and Omnia?

I test today both in a mediastore in Italy (Saturn).

I think the Omnia is quite more complete and has more performances.

In plus this week, the prerelease week, if you buy a Samsung Omnia for 499euro they will give a X-box 360 for free!!!

Does it means a Brand New Samsung Omnia 8GB for only 300euro.

I have tested the Diamond, but I was not at all impressed by this phone. So I will wait for the Samsung i900.
The Samsung is more flexible; e.g. it has a bigger screen, faster processor, MUCH bigger memory, better battery. Also it looks more solid. The diamond is rather plastic!!! Also the diamond is VERY sensetive for finger prints.
NO, for me NO HTC, but a SAMSUNG!

The USB slot in Diamond doesn't look like standard miniUSB. I think it's some kind of HTC USB slot so standard cables won't fit. Can any owner of Diamond check it ?

A QUESTION for GSMARENA TEAM:

Let's say you would have just enough money to buy ONLY ONE of these two phones, which one would you choose?

""The Omnia is probably the first PocketPC that we've seen to produce impressive camera samples."""
Diamond photos is better in my opinion.
