Sony Ericsson C905 review: Cyber shot, cyber hot - read the full textHigh megapixel count is the rage these days and Sony Ericsson C905 is adding fuel to the fire. The first 8 megapixel GSM cameraphone to make headlines is shipping as we speak. On top of geotagging...

I am literally wetting my pants in anticipation for my new C905 which arrives in 2 weeks. Love the camera, love Sony Ericsson, and just plain love the design of my new phone. I can't wait til these arrive in my store, cos I know these will go like hotcakes!!!!

"As usual with Cyber-shot phones, browsing full-res images didn't involve any lags at all." - GSM arena

I think this is one of the biggest benefits of Sony Ericson phones. Zero lag for browsing high-res images.

I tried flipping through mid-res images on my LG Viewty, and it takes 4-10seconds for it to load EVERYTIME. You can imagine how annoying that can be, when you're trying to find a picture.

DISAPOINTED !!!

The only mention on VoIP was at the very begining telling there is this option but you guys had not spent five minutes of your time to check and test it :( there is a full page telling about the contacts that is almost the same as the other SE phones :( the new specs are those things we are willing to get deeper, the ones we saw on other mobile we don't need a deep view :( sad :( I was wondering to get more information on VoIP, the DLNA and other great features.

because, you can always blur your photos using any photo editor.
but, you can't add details to photos that do not have any detail to edit at first place.
;)

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-10-31 03:31 from tDAGNokia reps advised my store staff 2 weeks ago that it is not important about MP's, "its all about the lense". What stupid quote is that from them? Do they not understand that SE use carl Ziess lens like the CYbershot cameras, LIKE nokia. Difference is, SE actually use a digital camera and not some sort of disposable one with carl ziess lens!!

Great photos, AWSOME video, heaps better then the C902 and K850. Very smooth, and hopefully at a good price to purchase as a demo!!

a little correction to the article,
the first 8MP cameraphone was made by Samsung few years ago.

and i agree with the comments above, the pictures are a bit blur. those will make people have a second thought before buying this phone.

and btw, i remember nokia plans for their 8MP phone few months ago (the one that looks like N93 in slide form factor).
where is it now? is it being cancelled?

Those silly tacky names employed by the Korean makers are darn annoying. INNOV8, Renoir, Pixon? Whoever came up with those should be shot. How about Pixel8 then? They must think they're so clever and classy.

I have a comment on the fact that you are dissappointed in the fact that you can't use xenon flash in fastpic mode,
because, how long does it take a medium end digital camera to reload its flash??
usually 5 seconds or more, does it not ?
how can you expect a phone which has more things to do than just taking photo's to recharge the flash within 0,8 or 1,7 seconds??
it would take quite a camera to be able to deal with that kind of power usage... i think the function on C905 is great as it is!!
cheers for the great review btw :)

> In reply to George @ 2008-10-30 18:00 from tJuDHello, in answer to your question, I believe the T700's launch is imminent. I would imagine Sony Ericsson want this device in stores before end of the year along with the G705, so they can focus on what they want to announce at the Barcelona 3GSM trade show in 2009. We all wait with great interest!

Let us hope that this device, along with the forthcoming G705 and T700 will ensure that SE remains successful over the medium to long term in this marketplace. Going forward it must begin to review what OS it will use in its future feature devices (ie further enhancements to the A200 Java platform) and whether it may make better sense given the increasing conveegence of digital technologies to actually abandon having separate mobile device product lines such as one for photography (CyberShot) and one for music (Walkman). True all-rounders, such as the excellent K800i from over a year ago, prove that people will go for a device which offers a valuable and comprehensive feature set instead of one which offers good features in one area but not another.

This device, when the price declines in 2009, should sell well.

Does anybody know if there is alot of audio quality difference between a music player 3.0 and a walkman player 3.0? Or is it the basically the same audio software but with different player options?

One of the best undocumented function is the Exchange ActiveSync, I'm surprised that it is part of the firmware without additional download unlike Nokia Mail For Exchange.
