Nokia N85 review: Nseries revved up
N85 is the latest Nseries signing and a bulletproof spec sheet sets it right in the thick of all-in-one action. Full-house connectivity and multimedia prowess topped with a massive OLED screen to die for, Nokia N85 gives the lineup a great edge...

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-11-10 20:04 from 3C6tThanks for your input. I'll probably wait 6 months before I buy anything. By that time the price on either should have dropped a bit and some bug fixes will be out. Also, I'll get to see what people have to say about them after months of use - the true test of any phone. ;)

> In reply to Bill @ 2008-11-10 16:43 from i2Gvbro N85 being great an all is just another N95, i'm a nokia fan too i sold my N95 8GB a few months back to save up for the N96 and i bought a N78 for the between period and for FP2 and the FP transmitter, right now i'm confused as hell too, i just can't figure why the N85 is better in everyway as compared to the so called flagship N96 and hoe badly Nokia have messed up the N96, and the 5800 XM coming at such a good price with a great screen does seem like a great choice and it probably is the best if your pickin from N85, N96 and 5800, i feel like buying the regular N95 cause of its price and the 5mp cam, the only difference N85 has is FP2, the FM transmitter and the OLED.

I've been trying to decide between this and the Nokia 5800 Xpress. While the 5800 will be revolutionary at it's price point, I think I'm leaning toward the N85 at the moment.
Having a touch screen isn't really that important to me: I can imagine it being a finger print magnet really. And, having a clean, smudge-free phone is more important to me than the gimmick of being able to navigate by touch. Also, I want a better camera than the 5800 has. However, the 5800 Xpress does have a larger, higher resolution screen than the N85.
Anyone care to comment?

N96,N85,N79 plastictoys are a joke compared to Samsung.
Cant comprehend why people spend bunch of bugs for nokia cheap quality phones. I bet Nokia headquarter is laughing at all the mindless Nokiafools.

Im not exactly sure why gsmarena are not happy with the camera. The n85 pictures look like those of n95 8gb but a bit blurry. The n79 on the other hand looks like it has better coloring on its pictures as compared to the other two, although still blurry compared to n95 8gb.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Why aren't they talking about the lifetime of that superb OLED screen. This type of screen is just marvellous in terms of clarity and colour contrast but what about the organic part of the screen. The organic part of the screen's gonna expire pretty soon.expiry date 2 years max.

no matter how Good or Bad a phone is the marketing and releasing sector is just as important if not more, the two extreme examples here are the N96 and iphone, The N96 was truly a powerful multimedia device back in its time, its main features of Live Replay, Direct Record 16GB onboard with memory card really stood out back than but now its more of a blur. The iphone is the most over-hyped and over-priced device and its not worth any of the hype or price but cause the marketing sector really built up this device in the Media people even now go crazy over it not knowing its compelety underpowered. Nokia really screwed up this time.

its finally time to move on, before whenever a new wave of nNereis were announced there used to be so much excitement, there'd be really unique and amazing specs...nowdays alot of the charm has been lost, its not like it used to be, The N95 did kinda ruin the lines and Nokia really messed up the N96 launch and the actual device

Anyone using this phone in the US under T-Mobile's contract?? Please let me know how it works, good or bad. I am planning to buy this phone as soon as the NAM version is available, but again, it is going to depend on its functions on T-Mobile. Thanks!!

Nice phone, too bad is the outdated 240x320 resolution. That's the mean reason that i will not buy this phone.

I REALLY don't understand something - I have the N85 for almost a week now, and zooming into picture (every picture!) takes less then a second... I don't get it at all, how come it took you so long to zoom in? I can even zoom in while panning the picture, and it has a nice zoom effect too, like you'd zoom with an optic zoom.
And one more thing - the GPS lock, speed and precision is nothing less then amazing - I activated a navigation program, and from the second it came up to the second I had a lock it took *LESS* then 10 seconds, and from there on I had a solid lock all the way to my destination. Sure, I enabled AGPS, but why shouldn't I?
My version is 10.045, and its the one and only version available to the phone right now, so I don't understand the difference between my phone and the phone that GSMArena guys had to check.
Btw, the N85 can, of course, be updated through NSU, and the next update might fix the image processing algorithm, so the pictures would look much better. If you'd try to remember, the N95 8GB used to make abit crappy images with its initial software version...
