Nokia N79 review: Swiss Army knife
Nseries keep on throwing heavy-spec'd phones at us and there's no question they're hitting their best form in quite a while. About time we got less of a curve ball lookswise, Nokia N79 embodies a new approach to Nseries styling...

> In reply to nokia @ 2008-11-27 13:48 from nmIb - click to readi know, logically it seems pretty ridiculous as the highenders rite now starting from N95, N95 8GB, N82, N85, N79 are pretty much overall the same, just FP2, OLED, FM transmitter, Firm Factor and Xenon are in the mix with them being the basic differences but its really a good way to capture the mass market as you get bored with a phone over time and changing it to another decent phone kinda refreshs the excitement and with each one you get something new, like OLED screen or a FM transmitter, look at other brands they have started doing the same, SE used to have K800i as its 3.2MP flagship and K850i as its 5MP king...it lost to nokia who was like throwing out 5mp phones at a insane rate...and now SE has multiple 3.2mp and 5mp phones too, same with Samsung an all......Nokia's my fav

Well it seems to be another same phone from nokia
I am mistaken or it is always the same thing with a different product code ?
I never seen a brand that plays with us like that
Nokia can do this way a new phone each day just by changing a little the case or the shape of the keyboard
But they will be always the same phone with different names

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-11-21 12:33 from M@T2 - click to readAlright.. If there is one single reason why GSMArena's reviews sounded different, well that strongly proves that GSMArena.com reviews phones INDEPENDENTLY and not just by simply copying impressions from another mobile reviewing website.
Btw.. Have you already checked out ''MobileWitch.com''?? There you will discover that Mobilewitch is the GSMArena clone. Too bad. GSMArena tolerates this. =(

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-11-24 11:13 from tDCm - click to readNo. Not all N and E Series are always better on normal Nokia phones.
Imagine the Nokia Arte Series having better build quality than N Series. Or if the Arte Series is not enough, there's the elderly 6300, 6500 slide and 6600 slide with better build than the N Series.

"This is partially compensated by the built-in voice recognition system, which is doing quite a good job recognizing most of the commands. It is also fully speaker-independent and doesn't require prerecording of the commands."
-->But it is possible to prerecord the voice commands!!

IMO...
first, WiFi (yes, i prefer phone with wifi, i don't need bigger megapixel)
second, the build quality. the E and N-series usually has better build quality than the regular Nokia phones.

ive bought n79 today.
First impressions-amazing phone!
GPS is BETTER THAN GARMIN 350W, it refreshes faster, connects in seconds, and is very accurate.
wlan antenna is powerful, the screen is really big.

Is there still a point in getting an N-Series now? It used to be there were exclusive features in the N-Series that weren't available in the regular Nokia line, but today, almost all the latest features, the OS, and the UI can be found in non-N-series phones. Case in point: the N6220. A-GPS, Symbian v9 OS, Series60 v3 Feature Pack 2 UI, 16.7M color TFT screen, very usable camera, the only thing lacking is Wi-Fi, but that' not a dealbreaker for many people. N6220 is more feature-complete than most of the older & mid-range N-series phones that are still being sold today!
I think Nokia made a big mistake in doing that, they should have clearly delineated the two line-ups with some killer features that aren''t available in the lower line. Otherwise, I would just wait a year or less to get the same features in the newest N-Series to trickle down to the N6xxx line.
I mean why bother getting an N70ME, N73ME, N77, N80, N90, N91, N93i, etc., if there is such a thing as an N6220 available today? Can anyone give a decent answer?

> In reply to Stumbler @ 2008-11-21 14:01 from 0BiV - click to readThe reason is simple: Nseries doesn't need improvements, they're still on the pole position, they don't need a 8mp camera when their 5mp cameras are ok. They prefer to have more profit launching some ''new products'' with the good old formula from N95 and the likes at an adequate price. There are many phones lacking a huge set of features incorporated on Nseries. And the only exceptions are Innov8 and PDAs like HTC Touch HD that costs quite a lot and the feature set aren't so different.
