Sony Ericsson G705 review: Slide-o-matic
One of a kind is the last thing to call Sony Ericsson G705 upon as much as a glimpse. But conceited scoffs may be bitterly regretted. Wi-Fi, GPS and lightning fast data are likely to turn the snooty sneer into...

No! You always have to download Google Maps. (It does not mather if it is in "satelite"-mode or not. By "Satelite"-mode I guess you mean with an active GPS ?)

Well, I am not quite sure what you mean. But you CAN switch the GPS off (then you can not see your accurate position, since it uses the "a" part of the a-GPS!) and you can turn the GPS on, then you have a much more accurate position. The GPS takes some time to get a fix though.

In my country, Indonesia, many people using Nokia because they thought (have a stigma, indeed...) that Nokia has a simple & intuitive UI. I can only smile with that kind of opinion as I found that SE is more simple, understandable, intuitive, effective & efficient for transfering data, unlike Nokia. I also found their latest S40 UI is unpracticable. Well, it's only IMO... Cheers

> In reply to trevon @ 2008-12-07 20:51 from kar9If you want decent pictures, you can go for Samsung G810... But its close to 2cm thick... And there are much better 5mp camera-phones.
G705 looks much much better. However you won't be taking 5mp pictures.

I've tried LG, Samsung, and Nokia themes and menus...
And SE by far have the most comfortable, and editable menus.
Samsungs' menu looks too cheap, LG is too unorganized, and Nokia is too complicated.

This must be one of the worst reviews I have seen a while ago.
GSM Arena please read this review and fix it.
The wording is TERRIBLE!
Then the logic is pretty messed up: 4-5 lines complaints about the music key:"The music knob is teensy tiny, rendering a proper press almost impossible" then under the photo is says: "The music key does well". Also what is the big deal about it anyway? Many SE phones has dedicated Music key and most of them are actually usable. Plus it is in the "Key Feature" list TWICE proving that this review was thrown together in a few minutes.
This phone is around 330USD on Ebay, minus the cash back and you have a half decent phone with a tiny music key, hidden mem.card, no auto focus, only 3mp, and no lens cover for around $230. This could have been a killer phone with the camera from the C902, a decent flash (hidden or w/cover) and with a memory card what you can reach without taking the phone apart. (Dumbest idea ever.)
For a hundred more you can get an N95 8GB. I admit it looks like a brick, or soap since the Nokia designers are no better than the SE lately and have no imagination in the last 2-3 yrs. However, other than the lack of lens cover and mem card it does circles around this so at the end it's a well invested $100 what will serve you for yrs, while it is questionable how long this will last…
