Nokia 5800 XpressMusic review: Young as you feel
It's touchscreen o'clock for Nokia and the stage is set for the 5800 XpressMusic. Go ahead and touch it. We did and we've got a story to tell. Now, it's technically not the first time Nokia get their hands dirty with touch screens, but it sure feels they really mean business this time. For Nokia 5800 is not the only story here...

And btw - they did tell the phone is a steal, it's just that the UI is far from perfect - I cannot see a problem here.

Hi,
i think gsm arena owe us a second review, or an updated review. With the new firmware.
anyway,
i think this phone is a very good phone. For those who were looking a phone with US$400 budget should not think twice. But for those who want to upgrade maybe it best to wait another 1weeks or 1months in order to get a better (bug free) phone.
this phone with N97 will surely kill iphone

I have to say from what I have seen in other reviews of late the main disadvantages in this gsmarena review are well wrong. Voice guidance via gps IS available through license.
Judging by a video review I watched the 5800 browser is far from " Not quite polished ". In fact I thought it looked good and responded very well to touch.
I find it incredible that the reviewer would mark the 5800 down purely because it has no GPS geotagging! It isn't a major function of a handset. Smart dialling, again not a major feature of a handset which gives the reviewer no cause to make it a disadvantage.
But of the list of " disadvantages " they listed the one that I would say is *completely* wrong, judging by what I have read on various websites is " Limited 3rd party software availability ". There is an absolute ton of apps going around for these type of Nokia phones!
I don't like to think that some people are going to read this review and be put off because there those points I have mentioned are, as far as I can tell, wrong.
I mean Nokia 5800 for £249.99 sim free WITH wi-fi. For a lot of people that is an absolute steal !

The worst part of reviews on touch devices these days is reviewers almost compare. Look at the final words and half of it is dedicated to other brands, nokias position etc. Just focus on the product at hand and I think that you'll do better at your job GSM arena.

I just purchased this phone and to be honest, the phone isnt bad especially being under 400 dollars! I expected the camera to be a little bit better but in the outdoors, its great. I love the shorcuts and being able to get to almost everyhting from the homescreen. The web browsing is not as bad as the review says it is, but it isnt like the iphone. The speakers are the best thing!! and listening to music is a pleasure. The icons arent anything special but i dont care about gimmicks. BEST phone for the price!

Nokia is going to launch 5800 tommorrow in our country(bangladesh).
And they are runnin a superv promotion here.if u buy this mobile and if u r one of the 100 buyers then u ll get a Nokia blue tooth headset which cost 120 $..and we will get it totally free plus there will b another chance of winnin a BOSE home theater sysmtes. Besides these promotions nokia is launching this mobile at very cheap price. WE didnt blv in the first place when we heard abt it and its price. But now we can c tht its true. Desprtly waiting for tmrw. really wanna c in what way nokia beats i phone.

I can add another con - lack of SIP Voip frontend,so no internet calls. This is an essential feature for me,that's the only reason I won't buy this phone. On the other hand - N80 didn't have this feature initially as well, but eventually it was added later with the firmware update.Let's hope Nokia will be as smart with this phone too.
Also too bad no Irda anymore, can't make use of Psiloc Irremote application, which had good use in N80.

If u upgrade your phone to firmware V11,it'll work just fine. All the UI transitions are very smooth just like iphone.I bet gsmarena review on V10 firmware unit.About the shortcuts,i think gsmarena haven't really go deep into the functionality of the phone.I've used all touchscreen phones before & my advise is that this phone worth buying minus the horrible camera unit.
