Samsung i8910 Omnia HD preview: Getting closer

Samsung i8910 Omnia HD preview: Getting closer - read the full textThe world's first 720p HD video recording on a mobile phone was top of our list of trend-setting features revealed at this year's MWC in Barcelona. But even if you take HD from the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD you will still...

I was planning to buy this phone the moment it comes out, but the fact that its video recording is at 8000Hz only, plus low call audio quality too, I guess I will still be happy with my N95 8GB. At least my Nokia records videos at 48000Hz!

FM Transmitter - i really dont what happen. why samsung?

XENON - to big for the phone, see n82? 17mm thick
Optical zoom - same reason as Xenon

I think putting in Xenon flash isnt a problem, it will hardly add 1 or 2mm to the phone but its THE most important part of any good camera. There's no digital camera in the world that doesnt have a xenon flash and theres a good reason for that. So 8MP camera is a waste without it, Samsung dont make this mistake!

> In reply to [deleted post]LMAO. This is the stupidest comment I've ever read.

SD = Standard Definition, the opposite of HD (High Def.), not Secure Digital. It should be able to output on a tv at HD res, what's the point of HDMI if it couldn't?

I wish they fix that recording audio format and release it soon, as said in the other comments.

> In reply to [deleted post]Yes, HDMI HAS been removed - previously in the specs it stated the handset would have HDMI-out by way of an adapter, this is no longer the case.
Other things in the soecs have changed as well, such as the specified talk-time dropping from 15 hours to 10.

Basically, Samsung took a winning formula and farked it up.

Removing the camera cover is a bit annoying and changing the battery cover is pretty poor as well (it looks like the previous preview model had a similar battery cover design to the i8510, which was really really good actually).

But it's the removal of the HDMI connection that is, frankly, unforgivable.
Why Samsung believe that on a phone that has HD video recording as it's primary selling point, that only people with wi-fi enabled TVs should be able to easily watch their videos back is incomprehensible.

Maybe it's me but all videos I've seen taken with the Omnia HD are too stuttery/jerky. You will notice this when you see clips where there is movement of the handset. It records at an okayish quality when the video cam is still.

The N95 recorded perfectly smooth clips albeit at a lower resolution...

I'm not impressed. Why no HDMI as promised? I sometimes would want to hook up the phone to a monitor!!!

I think after all this I've decided to go for the N97. Atleast I know I'll get smooth videos. lol

I've got some questions...

1 -> Is the framerate of HD-Video constant at 24fps or variable (between 20 and 30)?

2 -> Which audio-codec is used in the videos?

Thanks

Agreed with MrGenie:
things to be included...
1. FM transmitter
2. Lens Cover (as its biggest asset)
3. Metalic batt. Cover
4. Xenon flash (as it should be a MUST for 8mp phones IMO)
5. Optical Zoom like G800 (i know its daydreaming but what the hey :D)
