Sony Ericsson Aino preview: First look - read the full textSony Ericsson Aino is without a doubt one entertaining slider. It does pretty much all the stuff that the other Sony Ericsson feature phones do, but does it better. Throwing in some heavy multimedia...

I used to be such a HUGE Sony Ericsson fan. But they are so far behind the game its actually getting sickening. They just haven't a clue how to make good mobiles anymore. Using old tech, same old interface. I remember the SE interface used to be better than Nokias S40 but now even that one overtook them. Plus the overpricing needs to stop. And kill those silly M2 cards - just use transflash like everybody else. And where are the smartphones? Satio is really a Camera phone with a smartphone OS, but realistically can it live in the company of Nokia N97 and Samsung Omnia HD? This limited touch thing is silly - this fone would be very inconvenient to use. Come on Sony - WAKE UP!

The Sony Ericsson Aino is the first phone by Sony Ericsson to sport a widescreen and touchscreen display. Yes, the 3-inch screen is actually touch-enabled but only in the multimedia part of the menu and the camera interface.

typo error "Aino is the first phone by Sony Ericson to support a"

look at it. :)

Thats what 'Sense Me' is for...

Same with all the genre/artist/album/year sort lists are for...

I can't believe you don't know you can make playlist for SE phones.. wow.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-06-03 18:44 from 0dwp - click to read1. Price... All phones are expensive when they come out...

2. Wireless is the way to go!

3. Are you kidding me? They do have playlist options... And Walkman phones have the best media interface of any mobiles. Drag and drop is only availible on touchscreen devices... Wait and see when the final version is out.

4. Are you sure there's no "remember playback position"? I used w810i, and they had that option back then....

** Maybe you're not using your device right :/

OK... let's wait for a better review when the phone is released, which, according to various online news reports, is probably in Q4 2009.

Certain items to consider:

1. Price is missing!!
- SE phones tend to be VERY EXPENSIVE so expect >$600!! OUCH!!

2. 3.5mm jack is STILL missing as SE STUPIDLY FORCES people to use their damn proprietary port for charging and for plugged headsets!
- Preview article did not mention BT headset but the picture does show it. Hopefully it'll work well with NON-SE headphones/earphones as they suck!

3. Media player software still sucks!
- Hopefully they'll upgrade the software to allow edits, easier drag n drop, and, most importantly, PLAYLIST creation!!
- This is why iPods RULE as media players due to it's ease of use and FRIENDLY user interface and simple to use iTunes!

4. Micro SD cards currently go to 16Gb.
- So is the storage internal or external considering it's supposedly >16GB??

5. Media Player 3 does NOT have the ability to "remember playback position" so it's TERRIBLE with audiobook files!!
- The #1 reason why SE phones are terrible for listening to audiobooks! Use iPod instead even for mp3 files since iTunes have it available as a option!
- Media center software does NOT offer many functions such as Adding that capability or editing folders/files!

Criticisms aside, let's wait until the actual phone is released to whether or not this phone is worth it or not!

> In reply to JaCoB...,Kuwait @ 2009-06-02 18:49 from 0BA9 - click to readwell it is said the only touch option is in media/camera menu.
and you don't always use or carry your bluetooth headset around.
if you choose the any button option for answering a call, you may accedently answer a call.
that's why i want to know it exactly and why it is a really interesting question.

During phone calls, is the touch screen active?

In other models/brands during calls, i've 'accidently' hung on people because my ear touched the screen.
Massive touchscreen flaw if ever from a end-users POV.

> In reply to informer @ 2009-06-02 15:52 from 0ZL2 - click to readwell we dont know yet
but i think you can accept ur calls by touching
if you cant dont forget that u get a bluetooth headset and plus you can do the any button to answer option so its not that big deal :)
btw sony isnt stupid to forget a small thing like this :)
