I used to own the Samsung Beat DJ and I am actually getting the Nokia 5800 now and I think the audio quality on the speakers are very loud but the quality gets killed at full volume. The quality on the headphone however are appalling, there is too much distortion, the 5.1 channel surround sound effect didn't help either. So I am just getting the Nokia 5800 and see if the quality is better and I have heard it is.
Thank You

Looks like a sweet phone. I was "turned off" when i read the part about the low audio output. Everyones comparing the beat DJ to nokia's and walkman phones. People, you are all forgetting the best music phone of them all. The "o2 Cocoon" I'd be willing to bet the sound quality of my Cocoon is far more superior then the Beat DJ any day! And also keep in mind that the Cocoon is the only phone to ever be used in an actual LIVE DJ set!

I bought this phone 4 days back, GSM Arena says sound quality is poor
crap, its sound quality is awesome, jus one level below iphone(i also own one), i think its jus a way by competitors to pull it down,
i dont know wat sort of crap sound testing is done by GSM arena

Finally all u guys sound quality (earphone+spkrs) is awesome
and u can buy it over 5800.

For u GSM Arena guys u people should again review this phone and especially sound quality

Does anyone know how to install and change the language packs on these phones? It has all the Asian and European stuff I don't need, I just want English and Spanish. Any help is appreciated. Please email at gelio1321@yahoo.com

> In reply to Pide @ 2009-06-23 11:52 from wdUG - click to readI have this phone for a week and I think it's excellent so far. The sound quality is of the best I've heard on any phone I've had before. The other phones I've tested with are the LG VX8100, the SE W810i, and the k850i. The closest competitor I'd say to the was the LG, which is old I know but I like the dual-speakers it had. They sounded great.
As far as functionality, I only wish it would have had a full qwerty option. Also, trying to type a text message can get cumbersome and you really have to focus when doing it (at least it discourages from texting and driving!). Also little things like when I send the message, I should be able to switch to another application while the message sends in the background. But the message takes over the phone and you can't do anything else while it's trying to send! Come on guys, I know you can make it multitask! Anyways, other than that it's a great phone with stunning looks and lots of cool music features and options.

I'm planning to buy Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic...saw the review and I was very disappointed to know that the camera was very bad....
Now I'm looking forward to this phone...
It equals [and even beats] 5800 in almost all the sections....Only if he sound quality was better!!
If any Beat DJ user would comment on its sound quality....plz...
I'm desperate to get a rply...
I will immediately buy this phone...even if its on par with the sound quality of nokia 5800....

i agree, of course it beats Nokia Express Music, bit it will NOT beat the Nokia N91 8GB with an Audio Chip by BOSE will it, this is still the best sounding MP3 Phone out and its 2 or 3 years old!
