Hi, just bought this little beauty for my wife. Amazing phone for its price. Love it, gonna buy myself a black one too, wifey's snow white.

But I still got a question: is it possible to set the phonebook menu to automatically display name&number, or it just works in standard "big name" format?

Just bought this phone for 2 weeks. Simply love the sleek look, color (got the soft pink set) and it's functions. SMS was easy and i could get a hang of it pretty fast since i was a phone button user previously. Was quite skeptical abt it initially.

So for those who are still pondering whether to switch to touch-screen phones, can give this phone a try and it won't burn a hole in your pocket. Oh the battery life is good. for my case, just need to charge once a week.

Can anyone tell me how to get differant pics on the 3 differant home screens this isnt for me its for my girlfriend and i havent got the phone here to try my self so i will have to guide her through it. Thanks for your help in advance

I am using this phone and have only one word to say Nokia is much much better than this company. When I bought the cell I was happy with its graphics, sound and interface. But the real problem begins when I tried to connect this phone to PC. First only 200 sms can be saved on phone. So when I tried to export the sms from phone to PC god knows which stupid format this company uses. .NEF which is a picture format. And no way to open it on PC. Cannot export your messages to .txt or excel .xls format. Phonebook search interface on pc is also very poor. When i tried to convert a video and transferred to play it on mobile. It gave me an error of unsupported format or frame rate not supported. And the same video is played very well on a cheap Chinese phone. You cant even install the java application i.e. JAR files through PC. I strongly suggest those who want to connect this phone with PC to there work dont buy this phone at all. Instead go for any nokia or symbian or windows based phone.

can anybody help me,,,i use music player but why i cannot remove in my screen same with the FM radio both display in my screen even if im not using music player or radio........thnx

guys i am a user of this phone...merits of this phone are...
1.good camera claity
2.battery life
3accelerometer is very sensitive
4. not costly
5.gesture lock is interesting
demerits are..
1.java wont work so easily.{i made it work after updating the firmware and there by i void the warranty of it...}still i need both jar and jad of a application which is easy to get,, but annoying..
2.its very delicate if u drop it to ground or water its camera chip gets burnt off...it costs a good amount....and they dont give warranty for it...
3.games that company provides are all not full versions. only can play for some time...after that u have to pay for it...
4.back cover is the worst thing about this phone..they give 2 of them but both are very bad..it keeps coming out...
5.only 3gp and mp4 format works..


over all its just an average phone...u guys decide to buy or not...

Star, get ready to face stiff competition from Nokia 5530.Nokia is the only cellphone company which offers affordable smartphones.why would anyone consider samsung star when symbian based smartphone 5530 is available for slightly higher price.Thanks Nokia for making affordable smartphones.See the comparison between star and 5530 and you will come to know that 5530 is much much better -

hi i just recently bought the star and noticed one major problem , it's camera is giving me the message " CAMERA FAILED " whenever i try to take a picture or video . This is a serious problem and what to do to remove it . Sometimes i take off battery and sim and then retsart again it works but most the time this message is coming .
any help ???????

The handset is amazing specially the battery life.... the only trouble i have had is to stream videos.For some reason i have not been able to watch any videos from u tube or any other site. spoke to service provider who have asked me to download the real player. can any one help.

I bought this phone based on this review but it didn't have all the features that the reveiwers phone must have had as you can *not* record the fm radio with as it says on page 4 of the review.

I'm in Ireland .. does everyone's else Star / Tocco Lite record from the radio?

I had a Samsung Ultra Touch and it had the abilty to record from the built-in fm radio.

You can check in the settings, there are timings which determine after how many seconds you want the call to ring. There is a voice clip option, if selected, when this "fake call" comes, this recorded voice gets played gives an impression that the real call came. Easy to get rid of unwanted people or situation ;-) at no cost.

Its a good phone with lot of setbacks. it gets hanged very often when call is ended. screen stucks there for at least 5-10 mins. and only option to get rid of it is to restart. 2)alarm settings doesnt get saved. once u switch the alarm off then it comes back to its original settings like volume to level 1. cant say if it is only with my set.
3) no 3.5mm jack for music. touch phone shd be in sink with latest technology. 4) one can only recharge or listen to music at a time.
Actually i can just go on and on but these are the major ones

Hi,

In the LG KP500 review in the disadvantages, teh GSMArena review team has mentioned that ders no Divx/Xvid support while the same has not been mentioned in the disadvantages for the Samsung star. Does dat mean teh Star supports Divx/Xvid ? can any1 shed some light?
