Just bought this in Australia. Amazing phone. Fast, affordable, great added options with OVI store and deffinently no need for wifi if you get a internet pack. I've been hunting around for a cheap alternative touch screen phone that works well with as little lag as possible. And i've found it. Look no further, the phone that gives you all your features of internet, music, gps, gaming, apps, bluetooth accessability and more.... IS HERE!

Bought the phone last week, come with 2g (but I upgrade to 8g) memory card, 4 pieces back cover (Original white, red, blue & pink) with Plectrum Stylus and 4 pieces pen stylus which attached to the back cover with matching cover color, wow, excellent.(maybe only for APAC market, may refer to the 5230_APAC_UG.pdf file)
Is really excellent touch screen phone and is cheaper than 5800 about 25 percent and having very sensitive GPS, camera is so so for outdoor but really bad for indoor and no WIFI, but I didn't care as not really use it, for me I still prefer without camera as restricted on most of working environment.

if a company degrades features of a phone to make it cheaper than a previous release...y state it as a disadvantage??? doesnt make n e sense...it's the reason the phone is on the cheap side...i mean...duhhhhh

The phone's quite good but the biggest problem is that the 5800 is barely more expensive than this. In fact, with the 5530 sandwiched in the price bracket, the choice amongst the 3 is pretty clear for most buyers.
On the first page, the phone comparison with the Omnia HD & X10 really highlight the drab design of the phone. Not necessarily a bad thing but gosh Nokia really need a fresh design on their S60v5 phones!

Nokia producing some nice cheap touch screen mobiles, but why can"t we have better Quality cameras on these mobiles,as thats what alot of people are more bothered about, but Nokia think the people just want them for music, but Nokia only put better cameras on is Top End mobiles,i wish we could get a Upgraded 5800 with a Top Class camera on it,as this would sell really well,as the 5800 speakers are the Best out there,an use this mobile more than my N95 8gb for Music

> In reply to KXP @ 2009-12-13 07:04 from pI$p - click to readIf the phone does not have wifi, it is not going to get wifi suddenly because the GSM Arena reviewer says it does. The 5230 does not have wifi.
And I must also say this is a very good review of the 5230.

What kind of phone did you guys review anyways? I see that you complain about non-existing WiFi connectivity but hence you post a screneshot about the phone log viewer which is filled with WiFi connections. Get your facts straight!

If you really think about it, it makes sense to go for one of these nokias compared to other touch devices at this segment. Its the cheapest touch smartphone. You cant really go wrong with that.

I would like to see GSMArena add some indoor shots of the camera to the camera section of a review next time as the outdoor shots are not fully representative of the actual performance of the phone. Any cheap camera can produce good shots in sunlight, the real test comes under artificial light and indoors. Otherwise there is no purpose of putting up those sample photos...IMHO...:)

But Nokia is fking up release dates .. They announced 5230 is the middle of the year and its still not in stores.. Samsung on the other hand keeps releasing new phones even before announcing and its starts selling so fast .. Corby is an example
