Samsung I9000 Galaxy S vs. Apple iPhone 4: Collision course - read the full textIt’s not like you’re out of options. Here’s one. Another one would be to get a friend’s iPhone 4 and another friend’s Galaxy S, put them on a table, close your eyes and… tell your friends to bugger off. Or you can do it the old-fashioned way. Flip a what...

Hello GSMArena Team !

Thank you for pointing out the problem of frequency response with headphones attached on the Galaxy S.
Did you take a look at my thread on xda-developers forum ?

You'll find more analysis and a fix.

Just wait & see Iphans. Just wait & see what happens once N8 breaks free of it's chains & is let loose into the wild woods. Looks like we could see Total Knock-out N8 vs Iphone 4. I imagine democracy over royalty. Top trumpings Iphans, eat my shorts...! hehe

Yep. After reading that I have to agree, that we finally have our "iphone killer" as fanboys like to say. I don't like the whole media circus bashing of the iphone 4, and I have defended Apple in the past, but it's good to see touchscreen handsets finally trump Apple's, as it's only good for competition.

I do feel that the iphone's screen is better though.

As for this comments section. Bravo, less hate and more balanced opionions are welcome. Haters need not attempt to comment.

Bit of a no-brainer this one, and I haven't even read the review.

The Galaxy S probably wins.

Apple got 68/90 and SGS 78/90...but most shocking result is that apple got 4/10 in telephony category and it's supposed to be a phone after all, ha! And it only won in design and apps...underperforming, overpriced but looks pretty. Fact.

> In reply to M.j @ 2010-08-06 22:26 from 3J7c - click to readactually I have both iphone 3gs and galaxy s and imo the music player on galaxy is better. the cover flow looks kinda dumb on galaxy but for the rest its so much faster and easier to use. Also it shows up in the notification bar so you dont have to go to the music player if you just want to skip a track. I know you can do that on iphone too but not as good as on SGS. you would have to experience it really

> In reply to M.j @ 2010-08-06 22:26 from 3J7c - click to readExcept of course you have the HTC Desire which uses plain AMOLED and this is the Galaxy S which uses SUPER-AMOLED - which has far better sunlight visibility-WHICH IS THE WHOLE POINT OF 'SUPER' AMOLED.

Clearly, you know nothing of these things and are some kind of fanboy in disguise.

"There's no ultimate smartphone out there..."

That's true for now until Nokia N8 hits the shelves and then N9 whooa...seen proto, it's out of this world. Will get them both, N8 for my wife and N9 for myself. Exiting Autumn ahead of us. Sweet.

I'm not a iPhone Fan but i think is a great device. However, the Galaxy S in my opinion is a bit better not just for the specs, where both are really good, the real difference is the relashionship between price-quality product.

When Apple presented the iPhone 4 i thought the iP4 should have been the 3GS.... then it would have been an incredible device...! Now is a great device but not revolutionary like the 2G.

I have a HD2 and now is open the possibilty to have Android... its make to have a great option to revive this great phone. Cos for me, if the developers manage to make it work properly is gonna be the better device with Android like the N1 and Galaxy S.

I don't know if Android is the future but i'm sure of one thing, NOW IS THE PRESENT and make me feel confident about the future of that platform.

If only the Galaxy S had a QWERTY keyboard, I would ditch my old phone for it. Maybe they will come up with a slider version of it later. Right now, the only version with a slider is only CDMA.

Personally, I prefer a larger screen rather than one with higher pixel density. I'm concerned about reading web pages and other info on the screen. It doesn't matter to me if the letters look sharper. What matters is that I can read it and not have to horizontally scroll. The extra .5" of screen appeals to me more than not being able to recognise pixels.

I find the browser comparison interesting. The Galaxy S has the edge on initial loading while the iPhone 4 has the edge on reloading. The times that this matters is if you click on a link and then click back. I know on my existing N97, the default browser is crappy on how it handles going back to a previous page. Opera Mini seems to cache the previous page to make it faster to go back to the previous page. It sounds like the iPhone 4 default browser does something like this. If it is the browser, then installing a better browser can improve performance on either phone.

The lack of a flash on the Galaxy S is interesting. I believe that the camera is able to operate pretty well without the flash. I would have prefer they compare night time or indoor photos here to see how the Galaxy S performs without the flash compared to the iPhone with a flash.

One criticism about the actual article. Why is it that there is a link to the iPhone 4 specs, but no link to the Galaxy S specs. I think that they should put a link to the Compare page of both phones. That way, it is easier for readers to click and see the spec comparisons of both phones. Putting a link only to the iPhone 4 spec page give a perception of bias on this article.

Interesting camera comparison. Much prefer the Samsung, you can add contrast later if you want, but removing it from the iphone is much harder.
