Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 (Android 2.1) review: Eclairs for dinner - read the full textWith a large high-res screen, a Snapdragon CPU and ample amount of RAM the XPERIA X10 is nothing short of the top-end Android smartphones currently on the market. However its outdated Android OS...

Xperia X10 has to be the dumbest phone I've used by far (even after the upgrade to Android 2.1).It overheats easily and it just keeps restarting the damn phone over and over again, eventually draining whats left of your battery.Even charging the phone will causes it to overheat and crash repetitively.By the end of the day, you're basically discharging than recharging. Also when the battery meter turns red,making/receiving phone calls are a waste of effort because you wouldn't be able to hear anything from the other side and vice-versa.

Wouldn't recommend anyone getting it,even an old-school Nokia 3210 would perform better.

Hi all

Isnt it better to update your phone before use - like set to factory default and update, and then personalise everything and add contracts? and can anyone tell me how is the pinch zoom (aka multi touch)?

Picture tell 1000 words! Sonyericsson has a bad habit of lies to the consumer in many stage. Many of the consumer fall for they trap, but it won't very long SE will lost they credibility of tustee company in the phone business. I am one of the consumer who is following of SE products. Now am stock with they old vision software and my cousine also bought one too I have told him to returned to the carry and continuing to tell others do not buy any Sonyericsson. This Kind of untrustee company cannot be do business with.By not honor they word.

I upgraded, only to find the pictures of all my contacts are now blurred. Has anyone else noticed this? I have added pics of all my contacts and on the 1.6V they were sharp and clear. Now they are grainy. Can anyone help to resolve this?

Even without 16m colors, x10 still performed admirably. Comparable to Samsung Wave, and HTC Desire HD. So stop bashing the spec sheet, and pick up the phone and use it!

Unfortunately the phone is Rubbish, all the mainboards fail & there is a big backlog for repairs for them (Sony E can't keep up).
Brilliant screen but rubbish phone, shame.

I hate to having to say this, but SE sucks. To the point that i just want to throw my X10 in the trash. Don't get me wrong, i am not a hater. Not until now, that is. The only reason that Sony still survive today is because it's eating of it's good 'HARD EARNED' reputation built by those who managed the corp in the past. To compare.... Apple have way better sound quality in the music devices..... and lots of other small 'less popular' companies have better pictures quality.... I personally thinks Samsung is by passing Sony in pictures quality. And last but not least .... the people who runs the corp.... makes me sick now..... they treat us like we're morons and don't know any better. They can shovel all their promises up their behind. I'll take anything over a SE now.OH yeah ,,,and also if you're a gamer.... you sure will hate this phone.... it so slow in response.

There is no universal question and there are no universal answers, nor the correct opinions about which phone is best. Everyone needs to think with their own head to decide which phone is best for him personally. Each of us has different priorities and needs and therefore its list of top mobile smartphone will be different. X10 is with this upgrade still in the top segment of the smartphone cell phones, and the price is now much better than the competition as article says. So definitely it is worth it of a serious attention.

> In reply to bnsuki @ 2010-11-24 08:02 from q{WI - click to readI think he's just trolling and trying to make the SGS look bad while praising SE's user experience. My SGS is buttery smooth and without lag after rooting it.

I'm consistently scoring 2,200+ on Quadrant's full benchmark on my rooted SGS with Ryanza's OCLF while X10 scores around less than 500. SE did a terrific job at making a snapdragon phone so slow.

I'm not worried about rooting as I can always unroot the device if ever I need to avail the warranty.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2010-11-20 08:36 from uHVg - click to readdon't bother. SGS is faster .. x10 even with all tweaks is still a slower system. timescape and mediascape do nothing but slow down it down as well. i dun see how your SGS with froyo is slower, maybe your homescreen is overly cluttered and you're using live wallpapers. but even then it should still be double the speed of the x10 with 2.1

You can unlock the phone with the same arc'd motion, as long as you hit the original position of the lock.

No problems until now. The colors are perfectly sharp!! :D Looks like an Hd screen!
