sgx540 is soooo much better than adreno 205...
if you lagfix the original galaxy s,use gingerbread and overclock the cpu to 1.2 you will see major difference from galaxy s plus in every benchmark out there!!
it should be called galaxy s minus performance same price not galaxy s plus!!!!!

There's a thread for this in the xda forums:

If you don't mind the extra bulk, you can always just get a higher capacity 3rd party battery with battery backplate.

according to the list of GSMarena, there are already 49 Samsung Galaxy sumthin out there..
although a lot of them are just variations of an original model..
so there should be around 15-20 base models with a Samsung Galaxy name on it..

> In reply to GUy @ 2011-06-10 14:46 from 0Bhv - click to readI have no problems with comparing different processors, but it is misleading to say that the i9001 is an upgrade over the original sgs i9000 and it that the i9000 is lagging behind.
although released later, the qualcomm processor in the i9001 is inferior to the hummingbird processor in the i9000. adreno205 < sgx540
as mentioned previously, the reason why the linpack score is significantly higher is because the CODE was optimized for qualcomm processors (nexus 1 benchmarks kill sgs, and don't tell me you think that the nexus 1 faster than sgs).
it seams the samsung has recently optimized their code as well in android 2.3.4. people reporting huge gains in the cpu portion of their quadrant scores (i've seen more than a few 1700s with no ext4/lagfix enabled)
regardless... i don't think you would notice a difference in performance between the two processors in daily use.
@jsikaffy
NOT AN UPGRADE, DO NOT GET if you already own a i9000.
many of the newer galaxy s variants (armani, fascinate 4g, etc...) all have 1650 mah batteries which are compatible with the i9000.

why do samsung products have a preview as well as a review later, when all the other producers dont get that treatment on gsmarena? i mean, ok for galaxy s and galaxy s2, they are/were really popular products and demand for the review was high, why not cash in on it by also making a review, but galaxy tab 8.9 and galaxy s plus? come on, are you being paid by samsung or something?

Im confused as to the market Samsung are targeting with this phone.. The i9000 still has a reasonably hefty price tag and this is an improvement so therefore must cost more. So it's going to be pushing the price bracket of the SGS2..! Considering the SGS2 is superior to the i9001 in every way I dont see who would actually buy this phone.
