> In reply to Sad & happy N97 @ 2011-10-25 05:47 from 0CYB - click to readDude, take a chill pill! You really are missing out if you aren't using a Symbian^3 device. I would especially recommend a N8 if you want USB-on-the-Go, HDMI (that doesn't just display pics and vids on tv, but mirrors the handset's display), the best camera on a phone to this day and a killer Sat Nav. 379USD sim free is a great deal. My Sony 16.3MP point & shoot cost more and is only better in low light Oh, and build quality that eats Sammys and craps LGs.
This 500 is ENTRY level. It also needs a bug fix apparently. Do no rely on it to display the beauty of a true lightweight open source OS on excellent handsets. Read about them all here.

I think this phone should have performed better with the 1Ghz processor... Just the best example of how things can go wrong if software and hardware is not optimised for each other.. Hope Belle would solve this issue(when and if it comes)...

all this lag is because of the absence of the broadcom gpu....
they took the term budget phone too seriously it seems...

Mayb coz its a budget device and nokia decided to use a basic gpu rather than the one(Broadcomm 2727)used in other symbian^3 handsets like n8,X7...It's a rather desperate move by nokia to compromise on hardware than the user end experience...shame on you nokia

If it can't play 720p video then why is there a screenshot of it in the review?

From the look of things, this is a big ol' fail. It does demonstrate that CPU is not everything: N8 can shoot high-quality 720p after all. But as a handset, I just have to wonder how it is that Nokia builds and tests such a device, yet finds it acceptable to go on the shelves. Selling handsets with a laggy interface, buggy software and low-performance features is what has got Nokia into trouble. Doing the same again isn't helping anybody!
Seems the only thing they could have done worse with this phone was put S60 on it! :--P

1 Ghz cpu + 5 mp camera and it only manages VGA at 15 fps. This shows just how crappy symbian is and has always been. Android with 1 ghz and same camera films 720p. Yes, i have a n97, strted of with a 6260, then N80, and now n97.. BUT..no more Nokia for me ever, maybe , just maybe if they make a Mango phoen with hdmi( not mini hdmi or any other variant) and gyro, and capacitative, and miniSD, and and and....basicly hitting all the nails on the head, not missing any. MAYBE just like that i will buy another Nokia. I cant believe how cheated and dissapointed i am with N97..i honestly wich at times that Nokia goes to hell and back and bankrupt and all of it's chief designers responsible for N97 end up starving to death. I just hate them with a huge passion, the zise of a flipping paralel universe. GOD !!!!!! that's how crappy N97 is. Now i say i'm also happy ..why ? Cause i found a new case and i'm gonna refurbish the N97 my self and toss it on ebay and i'm aiming for replacing it with an xperia x10, hopefully xperia arc, neo, nexus one or galaxy s 1(but i'm still very very buged about the lack of camera flash), and very very hopefullyish an optimus 2x or atrix.
So, what can we learn from this ? Well...enough is enough Nokia. People ask for specific things for a reason...OK ? People know best, so just give it up and make a darn android phone. I know i'll buy it, if it has all the mentioned specs.

Here in the Philippines, the nokia 500 only costs around 8600-9000pesos compared to the brand new 15k c6-01 so i will have to disagree with the comment saying that it costs the same. Moreover, my Nokia 500 comes with the preinstalled quick office so I could at least browse pdf files, powerpoint, excel, and word files.
My only complain would be the restarting problem and the lag that it experiences. Hopefully, the software will get better with belle.

> In reply to iPaolo @ 2011-10-24 22:37 from PueQ - click to readMy Ovi Store never lags or close suddenly, however, my sister got a Xperia x8 and since she bought the phone, she CAN'T download anything from the market because nothing start to download. Every app from her phone have to be download from another sources. We already searched of the internet and there's no solution for that unless that you root your phone.
Nice isn't ? So give us a favor: don't tell about your own frustranting experiencies like it was common issue.
