MWC 2012: Sony overview - read the full textSony's pre-MWC event delivered the Xperia P and the Xperia U to the public. The smaller siblings of the Xperia S have the same characteristic design but each has it own quirks to charm the audience. The Xperia P is made out of a single piece of aluminum, while the Xperia U has a color-changing glowing transparent strip and and exchangeable bottom piece.

That 12MP camera seems pretty good, almost equal to the Nokia N8's camera.

The design looks boring personally, yet another anonymous looking rectangular brick, just like almost every other Android phone out there. The Android UI is so boring and dated, and not to mention laggy.

I like that they used aluminum and the light strip on the bottom is cool.

The Xperia P and U are cooler than the S due to the changing color of the light strip. This is a failure on Sony's part that the lower end models seem better than the high end one.

WhaaaaaT!!!! The Xperia P's design is sooooooooooooooo much better than the Xperia S'. Ports without silly plastic flaps covering them. So strange that Sony would release a lower-end phone that eclipses a higher end model.

If anyone knows how to market a product its Sony. Look at the products in the past. Nice work, keeping the portfolio to a minimum so you can concentrate on the OS.

Also have to give it out to Google. Their android software, may not be as fluid as Apple, but they know how and where to pull the customer. Google has Google Plus, but not a mention about it is made in any of the promos. Instead they know people are hooked on to Facebook. Look at they way they promote Android's UI with Facebook inside.

Great job!

Sony experia p looks like a very nice device.

LG, HTC and Samsung have all failed to come up with anything in the way of a smaller phone.

Does the plastic chunk beneath the transparent part actually house any crucial components, or is it just a fashion statement? Could the phone function fine without the plastic or transparent parts attached?
