Sony Xperia tipo review: Mini just got bigger - read the full textThe NXT line gave Sony the strong start they needed after returning to the smartphone game on their own. The Japanese then focused on filling the lower ranks and, yet again, we see them look for inspiration in the old Sony Ericsson scrapbook...

I bought tipo last day in Kolkata and spend my whole day to analyse. It's good in design but internally it sucks. It's having touch control problem . Choosin one and opening other and very lagging . Taking much time in toggling task window. I am planning to replace it.

with an armv7 processor, adobe Flash and online games are supported and with an enhanced Adreno 200 GPU playing games like total recall, resident evil 4 is very very smooth.. also, the SoC itself is also capable of handling armv8, and armv9-designed apps -- courtesy of the website of Arm (the one who made the cortex a5)

i have got this phone 2 weeks ago, nice phone at this price range, good to handle, smooth performance..
Battery getting drained soon is one issue.. tried many options to get better battery performance but no luck..
I wil wait n see for few more weeks before i decide to give it back to Sony..

its an armv7 SoC with an enhanced adreno 200, thus, a cortex a5 proc. is capable of handling apps which is made for a8,a9 and a15 processors

> In reply to Sony what are you do @ 2012-10-01 09:43 from HBLE - click to readXperia Mini was NOT the lowest end at its time, and for a long time it did cost a lot more than what Tipo sells for. Tipo rather takes over for the old lower end Sony Ericssons, like X8 and W8, which both had Adreno 200, superslow 600MHz ARMv6 (ARM11) processors and a pathetic 168 MB RAM.

Xperia Mini did originally cost more than the newly launched Miro cost now. Sure Mini fell to a very low price but that was because of the touch control problems and battery problems that affected some units, Mini is more or less a defective phone (but most of them seem to work fine so no problem)

Compared to W8 we have to admit Tipo is a big leap forward, and it even cost less than W8 did at its time.

Mobiles should be faster not slower
A year passed since the mini and we get a slower phone instead?
Most Sony phones when high end ones contain really poor and outdated specs
Come on Sony don't be cheap

They got it all wrong, tipo is not supposed to replace the mini, but the X8.
Its specs and size are much closer to the the X8, rather than the Mini.
And comparing it with the X8, the tipo is an upgrade.
Comparing it to Mini, it is a downgrade as it surclassed, in screen quality, camera quality, sound quality, CPU, GPU, etc, prety much everywhere!
And most important, to the size!!
X8 and Tipo are for the customers who may accept compromises for financial reasons, but the Mini is for the ones who accept no compromises but prefer the mobile to remain mobile and not a tablet-like laptop in dimensions!

With the increasing dimensions of the mobiles becoming a very important issue, a high quality and yet ultra compact mobile, like the Mini, should be and is extra appreciated for some ppl.
And unfortunately, there is no heir....
At least, the mini, with ICS, remains fresh enough not to need one...

Not worth, slow and battery consuming phone, a lot it take time a lot it take battery. hangs also, only 6 days old phone, don't want to submit it in unskilled workers of 18 service center, can sell it in 8000. You can come over to my office in sector 26 and check it out yourself only.

For $148 at Dicksmith I feel this is well worth it. If you want faster processors then be prepared to spend more money. This phone is perfect for a first time buyer of a smart phone. There's nothing wrong with it at all.
