Sony Ericsson W810 review: Walkman on the EDGE

Sony Ericsson W810 review: Walkman on the EDGE - read the full textA few months after launching its new W810 model, Sony Ericsson delivered it to our office. This black twin of the famous W800 model features EDGE and the main menu has undergone slight modifications. All other applications have remained untouched. The new W810 is much more about color emotions, sport spirit, and launching novelties at all costs.

I highly disagree that this phone looks cheap. I've had mine for 2 years now and it looks as good as new. Its the best phone I've ever had.

Also you can use it's handsfree in a other way by joining a bigger headphone via it's 3.5 mm Jack.

If you have GPRS/ Edge connection then just go to setting->Update Service to update the phone.

This phone has built-in light sensor that automatically adapts the screen and keypad brightness to suit the surrounding lightning conditions.

Transferring data to memory stick via USB cable from the computer is quite slow and tedious (approx 15 - 20 Mb per minute I reckon). However, I managed to circumvent this wee problem by using my finaceé's cybershot camera as my card reader, again via USB, and got a significant improvement in transfer speed (about 4 times quicker). Have read some posts where folk have bitched about the battery life - I'm pleasantly surprised to find that from a full charge, the battery has depleted only 30% after 5 continuous hours of Walkman playback. If I use that as an indicator then I'm bound to see a good 12 hours plus playback for music alone on one charge. This equates to the battery life of my 4th gen iPod... So, I'm pleased to find that I'll be able to use this phone as a back-up/replacement for my ageing iPod. Pity the MS Pro Duo maxs out at a measly 4GB tho'. Bring on the 8 GB card please Sony !

Oh, and some half decent support for Mac OSX users too while yer at it.

BTW Can anybody tell me which bluetooth headphones this phone supports (if any) ?

* Poor kepad quality.. I already have the keypad replaced for 475 rupees.. I'm in india and my dad got this mobile for me while he was on tour in singapore.. I went to the Sony store in chennai and claimed for warranty and they said a big no.. The chrome in navigation key was lost and it was too stiff to use.. I have one more friend with same problem..

* Then i hear lot scratchy noise while switching between songs..

* Then a DoRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR noise all of a sudden while listening to songs and working on other menus..

I'm extremely disappointed as sony ericsson did not live up to the expectations..
