Nokia Lumia 920 review: The Luminary

Nokia Lumia 920 review: The Luminary - read the full textNot the best of times then for the Finns, but the right time for a flagship to show its worth. Saying that the future of the company is being decided here is probably too much. But the Lumia 920 could be the difference between living with dignity and scratching a living on emerging markets...

I see lots of haters on this comment section. Is this really necessary??? Camera quality is OK and above average for a 8mpx shooter, don't tell me iPhone 5's camera is better because it isn't, just look at the low light photos. Video is still better, OIS won't make miracles but brings noticeable advantages over the competition.
An what about sound quality??? Do you really notice the difference between a phone who sets a -85 of stereo crosstalk against one that hits just 75??? Are your ears talented enough to judge a phone's sound quality just from what a table full of numbers says??? I'm sure 9 out of 10 readers don't know what does any of the sound parameters mean. Most smartphone users won't notice a clear difference between a L920 and another smartphone which is supposed to be the audio quality benchmark. Just as GSM Arena said: Only audiophiles won't be pleased at all. Regular users should be OK with L920 sound quality.
I'd just say I agree L920 is the best WP8 today. The extra Nokia apps give it an edge over Samsung and HTC and L920's design is just better. I won't complain about the weight, I'm not a child or a weak man uncapable to handle 185 grams (for the sake of it, my first phone was a Nokia 5110, why should I worry???). Anyway, haters gonna hate
BTW: this words are comming from an Android user, who expected that?

Nokias reliable connectivity rules hands down!
Dont make ur judgements on reviews and specs alone period. Iphones unreliable connections makes it a useless piece of yankee junk.

I will have to check out the photo compare tool, but by the sound of things Nokia needs to fix its processing to produce better natural-light pictures and videos.

Even without a stellar camera, there are other things that appeal to me about the 920 - but for the size and weight there should be no compromise!

The only thing that will keep nokia alive are their low end dumbphones.

But now it's too late.

this Nokia WP doesn't support native video call and Bluetooth FTP.
even my old Nokia N8 supports native video call and Bluetooth FTP.
and i won't downgrade my current N8 to something that has less features than my N8.

Only Nokia, and Microsoft, ads... have been talking about how "great" their 920 camera is! OIS is good, but it also makes the phone bulky, and Optical Image Stabilization is not enough for good image-quality...! Nokia also have an undeserved reputation for "good" sound quality!

There are very many reviewers that say that the 920 camera is no better than average!
The big problem with 920 is WP8, everything, including camera-quality would probably be a lot better on Symbian or MeeGo or Android!

No wonder, nokia faked their lumia 920 shots. The real deal was mediocre at best. Camera should be the seeling point of the 920 but it turns out its a dissappointment.

Gsm arena forgot to let you guys know that Nokia is aware of day time camera quality and are addressing the issue. Once that's sorted it will be best smartphone camera

Wow, talk about the hype bubble bursting!!

Screen is average, the main feature is camera and if your honest with yourself iphone 5 kills the 920 camera, and maybe even sgs3 is better than the Nokia.

Then to top it off, it's ugly, huge, double the weight (all the extra weight and not better screen or camera?). Complete fail. 225 GPU?? Great... iPhone and SGS3 smash this phone into next week.

Really disappointed about daylight camera performance and even more about audio quality. Was waiting for this for 4 months now and nothing. Guess I'll have to wait for Optimus G to come to Europe and then depending on its pricing go for it or for Nokia N9 (you just can't go wrong with that one).
