Have you even used what you are "reviewing"?
Anonymous, 23 Dec 2012Yes look at history, Windows Mobile was a complete failure. They cannot compete on mobile, and... moreJust wait and see. BTW history tells us MSFT can't come up with a game changing product before 5-6 iterations. WP 8 is just the 3rd iteration (leaving the intermediate releases. In the meantime you can enjoy Android! I personally don't have any issue with Android, OEMs should come up with great designs and durability! So far it is poor.
bbs123, 22 Dec 2012But in whatever state WP8 is..ultimately at the end it will engulf others or make others feel ... moreYes look at history, Windows Mobile was a complete failure. They cannot compete on mobile, and they proved it how many times? Wp7 has already flopped as well.
But in whatever state WP8 is..ultimately at the end it will engulf others or make others feel too small just because it is made my Microsoft! History confirms this.Apple came with best UI and other significant figures first time for PCs but at the end, it is Microsoft who has changed our lives! Google's track record is not good(except the search engine). It actually has no privacy, all of our data is accessed, used and monetized! Microsft is far far better than this.
In gadget hardware Samsung is the worst, whatever I had brought of Samsung (atleast 4-5 gadgets) in the past couple of years has gone wrong by 1.5 years or so....I sometimes wonder why the largest manufacturer of displays or chips can't come up with a durable product. As in country like us, we can't afford to spend on good gadgets so frequently (within 1-2 years). Nokia is quite better in terms of the hardware or durability whatever you say. I have used many of their phones for atleast 3-4 years and it becomes a part of out day to day life. Apple on the other hand make good gadgets with solid hardware performances but they are beyond our affordability.

[deleted post]Nothing new, this was already stated by reviewers long ago. Very unstable, thats normal for Microsoft products, and software bugs up to the ears. Sure it will take time to sort out, but stability should improve during the next few months, hopefully already with the PR1.1 release.
Xbox live and so on will take longer, probably more than a year before it gets close to being usable, Microsoft never had a clue how to make their stuff possible to navigate, you see it in the WP8 settings as well, its almost impossible to get to common settings in a reasonable time, you keep tapping forever. Also, you cannot really see what is going on in WP8, for example theres no easy way to see if you are connected to Wifi or mobile data.
WP8 looks refreshing when you keep flipping those tiles, people get impressed but behind that polished surface there is not much to be impressed about, yet.
It would be nice to see an update to the camera review with the latest firmware. Daytime photos are much crisper. With the OIS and best of breed pictures in all lighting situations, I don't think any other phone camera can compete at this point.

N3KO, 13 Dec 2012symbian is fine Elop is forcing developers to go with WP by not making more symbian devices...... moreStop spreading this bullshit. Take a look at the financial report from 2010Q1. Symbian was dead in the water and the management was hiding numbers through stuffing the retail channels.
Symbian was NOT Selling well and was a huge burden on the Company. Nokia would have burned through it's cash reserves in 6 consequtive Q's if they hadn't ripped the dinosaur out and started anew. Now they've overdelivered compared to Estimates two Q's in a year and have stopped the worst cash-flow. All parts of Nokia are back in the black except for the smartphone-division which are still making adjustments.
Last quarter there was a writedown which made the Company loose Money on paper, but the Company actually made cash for the first quarter since early 2011.
So please stop spreading your old lies and learn history Before you start yelling at Nokia.

It should a... moreDude... Symbian was being killed by the old management through channel stuffing. Nobody wanted the phones yet Nokia continued to stuff the markets.
There are still Symbian phones out for sale that was manufactured Before 2010. Symbian and old Windows Mobile 6.5 had it's Place in the Smartphone history. They are not up to the task to compete with todays systems.
Ok i know this might be a silly question but the lumia will have whatsapp capabilities right

ManoharManohar, 16 Dec 2012Nokia can't regain its previous No1 position all alone with Windows and S40!!!!!! It should a... moreIs that a fact? What about the fact that symbian only support low resolution displays and ARM11 processors? Do you know how slow a 1.3ghz arm11 is? Nokia N900 is faster with its old 600mhz cortex A8. And display of 640x360 now when midrange devices have qHD, and 720p is the next midrange resolution. These pathetic numbers are the specs of 808 and they are already maxed out. Symbian have to die, that's a 100% fact. The question is not about symbians death but what OS should replace it.
Nokia can't regain its previous No1 position all alone with Windows and S40!!!!!!
It should adopt Symbian again. It should release phones with higher Ram and Rom. It should publicize Symbian Os as they are publicizing Windows now. I have been using Symbian since 2004. But I haven't seen Nokia giving any publicity to Symbian Os. The position of Symbian became more pathetic after the entry of Elope, whose only concern is the growth of Microsoft! Nokia think again again! What I told here is 100% fact!!!!!!!!
