Eventually i did that only...set right free key to keypad lock...this is a very basic feature...dont knw why rim missed it.

Price of BB 8900 has come much closer to 8520...diff of 3k in india...so would suggest to go for that...if track pad is not compulsory guys..

Quality control should be the same wherever a device is made. And not sure, but some might make decives for Euro/Asian markets and the others for American markets. Not sure thought.

If you don't want to purchase it, then you can save a blank .doc on the phone and just press save as and that well allow you to create new docs.

If yours is taking that long and doesn't boot-up at all, then you might have a corrupted file in the OS. You can either reinstall the OS or install a new one. If it's still under warranty then you should take it in for a replacement or something. For instructions on reinstalling the OS, go to crackberry.com and look for the forums called Blackberry 101 How To... there should be one on reinstalling and one for installing it to a bricked berry, just in case your PC doesn't read the device.

have purchased this handset a few days ago, i say can for email and blackberry messenger its amazing, by far better than any other rival, nothing comes close to it.

in terms of operating system, its not that great, alot of plan text sub menus and looks all to formal/corporate, not enough apps (even in blackberry app world) i've been using symbian nokias for 5 years and although it can have bugs, it can do alot more and has alot more apps.

never the less, this is a great handset and very addictive, you just cant help checking it very 5 mins for emails and bb pin messages, just wish blackberry could make the os look better and do more and more apps.

normally when u switch on ur device it straight away on ur device within 1-2 seconds..but in ur case im not quite familiar about it as my device doesnt having such thing like that..n i hope it wont be like that..
but i try to answer..first i would like to ask u whether ur device is genuine or not?i mean does it has warranty from ur local authorized dealer..n make sure IT IS A REAL BB..not fake one..like china set which can has dual simcard..this also can caused a trouble like this..
second,just reboot ur device again(meaning,u pull out the battery n then wait about 1 minute then insert the battery)..normally when u has inserted the battery the device will auto switch on the device..if this not happen kindly send back ur device he shop n ask them to look for u..hope this works!

I Have BB Curve 8520 .... and why is it that when i put on the Battery a clock appears on screen and it wont switch on ... im w8ng upto 30mins. nothing happens ... can anyone help me wd this ...

I have the BB 8520 and I want to know does it have preempt text when you send SMS. Also I have allocated photos and ringtones to my family but half the time when it rings no picture comes up and the standard ringtone is used not even their names come up

What you can do is, as someone said, hold the A button and this will lock the keyboard, or hold the Play/Mute button and this will set it to Standby Mode. Standby saves battery a little better than keypad lock. Another thing you can do is set one of the shortcut keys to lock it. That way you don't have to hold down the button to lock it, just press the shortcut key.
