Cheap phone made for people who cannot buy a more expensive phone. The production costs for Nokia are probably a dollar or two but they will sell this for a profit smashing $20.

Try using the N900 on a trip to Africa. Stolen or just damaged in the desert, in the rain, in the hot weather, humid weather. Try that on the Amazon. Or give it to Old McDonald on his Kansas farm... I bet he will drop it on the dirt on the middle of the field making it unusable.

OK, that's it.

> In reply to Aveek @ 2009-11-11 06:00 from utgB - click to readAgain, you don't understand the purpose of this phone, and just keep bashing the looks of it.

It's a rugged phone of sorts. That's why it looks different. That's why it looks "fat" and "ugly" for some. It's supposed to stand dust and scratches much better. And with the build materials they used, they made a 20 euro phone.

And it's supposed to be shared by different people (think farm employees), with different phonebooks. That makes it a 5 euro phone to some small businesses.

I'm sorry if I sound too harsh saying this, but you have no idea of what you're talking about neither you know the purpose and build philosophy behind it.

Good thing we have plenty of cell phone choices. Samsung, like you said. And I'm buying the N900. We all win! No need to bash this one. :)

So there you have it. That's the reason. ;)

this is evrey thing you need if you want to talk on the phone. simple and robust, cheap and easy to use. i work in a car shop and all the workers here use this kind of phones (ex:1100) because they do what they wore ment to do, talk.

and at low price, some small bussines will buy these phones for their workers.

This phone will be awesome phone for secondary phone.
On this phone you don't need a more powerfull battery,it's enough this battery that Nokia ships with them. I think for a long time,we got a good and cheap phone for calls and messages...Radio with a 3.5mm jack is an extra option...For around 25-30 euros this will be a awesome piece of hardware...

Is there any voice leakage problem like Nokia 1202 ?
cos the previous 1202 make earpiece, speaker, ringtone speaker comes out from the same place.

Am I the only one who thinks it's hilarious that this phone has a 3.5mm audio jack and the e71 does not?!
***totally confused***

Yeah the FM radio really needs that standard jack(?)

I like this phone. It's "in-your-face" simplicity is just what I was looking for. Besides, if you own an iPod Touch like me, you won't ever need any of the bells and whistles found in all those pathetic iPhone wannabes (see first page of gsmarena). All we iPod Touch owners need is a phone that can call and send SMS, that's all. This is that phone.
