hi, i'm a new user, hope someone can help:

1. is there a way to type apostrophes or punctuation, for example ":)", "i'm" or "i'll", without having to activate the 12# punctuation/symbols screen? i haven't been able to add these to the dictionary

2. in viewing call history, is there a way to display the time of all calls in the call log? currently i have to click on each call individually to view its time

3. when i activate the messages icon > "compose message" > "to", the names i enter bring up email addresses, rather than the handphone numbers. is there a way to change the default to handphone numbers only, instead of email?

thanks!!

FAO existing Hero users.

When Syncing to the PC, you usually get two options, 'mount' so transfer files, and you also get the 'sync' option on the notification bar on the phone, but a lot of the time I only get the mount option. Do you know how I can manually launch the sync option so I can connect it to the HTC suite?

Thanks in advance!

Hi All

Its a good phone with good features and great 3rd party apps, but, AVOID the teflon coated white unit! This comes off very quickly leaving the black undercoat shining through.

Hi after looking and using this phone for a bit i have decided not to buy it, it certainly looks and feels good but the OS is very slow , it hangs , also the keys especially the Back key is difficult to get to if you are a right hand user, all in all good but not really a good buy for me!! So now looking forward to the HTC HD2 being available in india!!

> In reply to pinguino1 @ 2009-11-18 09:29 from 43WRYea. Look somewhere else. I changed from my Nokia E90 with tons of features to HTC Hero. Anyway, some corrections to your opinions. You seem to be over exaggerating them. I just think you should get a netbook instead.

3.2 screen: too small.
Whats ok for you? 4 inches? It's not too small.

320x480: low resolution
Agree. But enough to display adequate information.

14.4 mm: too thick
You are really over exaggerating here. It's ok for a phone like this and it's not as if it's as thick as an ordinary laptop. How thin do you want it to be? As thin as 10 sheets of paper?

288 MB ram: very little
Whats adequate for you? 1GB of ram on a phone like this? Come on! How much do you want to do on a phone? Watch HD movies, chat and browse the net at the same time?! Why don't you request for Radeon Graphics in it too?

CPU 7200A 528mhz: Old generation and slow clock.
Agree. But 528mhz is enough for a phone in it's class. There are phones in this class which are slower. Even the samsung jet with 800mhz is occasionally sluggish.

miniUSB: old standard. Trent toward MicroUSB
Whats the difference between Mini and Micro? MiniUSB is not old. The transferring speeds are still the same. Just difference in the jack. You consider something new when there is a significant change. Mini to Micro is just a facelift.

No FM Radio
Agree. Down Point.

No Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
Infact, it syncs with outlook and has a viewer for word and excel. There are other android software which comes with viewers with editors. Even Windows 7 does not come with MS Office! You have to buy it yourself. Please do proper research.

> In reply to Amir @ 2009-11-19 10:33 from 3aSgI need to upgrade my phone now with orange uk,should i buy this phone?is this better then motorola dext or iphone?? better than iphone yes, in term of you don't have to experience ijail.

Someone said here at gsmarena that motorola ui touch screen better then htc hero ui touch?? HTC Sense UI is among, if not the best. With 7 homescreen you can optimize your needs. I watched on youtube, iboy put the HTC sense on their iphone :))

Is this phone browsing is good?better then safari?this phone browsing have flash support. -Yes but you got to wait until update for full flash support on android v2.0 eclair available from HTC.

so i can listen live radio like if u have this phone now can u go this radio try to listen now... Kismat radio or LBC97.3FM. . . . ?pls reply after u have tried??or there is any apps in android so i can listen these radio station??? I don't know coz I'm not live in your country.

How about bettery is good?? No smartphone battery is good, not even iphone. hero's battery last one day if you use it to browse or play music/video continuosly.

how about bluetooth is working with other devices? not until v2.0

can we upgrade to android 2.0?when will be?? we all wait the news from HTC, it would take some time because they have to costumize the sense UI with all eclair's aspects.

How about camera is better then iphone or dext?? camera is decent, but no flash.

How about speker is loud. . . ? speaker loudness is average I should say.

Hope it'll help.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-11-19 17:02 from vGTcHave u tried to bluetooth the contacts' details induvidually as 'business cards' (which, I admit, would be pretty time consuming) or used the Nokia Switch feature to copy the details across (even tho its designed to be compatable between certain Nokia symbian phones)..?

> In reply to Krunal @ 2009-11-16 06:43 from vGt7hi krunal...
I actually did have an issue with the activation ... took me almost 3 days to get things set...
but it does not work in roaming...
surprising...
now i am really paranoid of the battery life though...
need to chk with the service center...
if my phone has the prob...
i mean... gets to 55% by 12 pm...
its too bad...
also... today I was travellin from Hyd to Blr at around 120 kmph... and my phone went crazy... i mean it began scrolling on its own..
the screen began scrolling between 7 scenes...
all by itself...
may be something with the gravity accelerator.. my guess... (not sure) pls help with a logical soln.
also... my first hanging and auto restart happened around 30 mins back...
got a call from out station and as soon as i picked it... the phone restarted...
now i am going to visit the SC soon...
a little skeptical of my decision...

> In reply to Amir @ 2009-11-19 13:24 from ptH2well, yeah but most of ppl do not have hero AND motorola or any other phone that you want to compare with, so we cannot compare for you.

you can read or watch review in youtube too, but most of the things that you ask really depends on individual.

so why don't you go and try your friend's hero to see if it suits you ?
don't ask many questions, you will end up disappointed :)

Doh! I meant to say that the HD2 only has 180MB of built in memory to store (only part of, it seems) the CoPilot Live8 SatNav software.
I presume the Hero gives you the choice to save the same program, and any others you might download, to either the phone or a micro SD card...?
