As soon as I sold my Spica I bought an LG Me P350 which costs almost half what I paid for my Samsung. Cheaper with "worse" specs but twice the performance and satisfaction. A cheap Android kicks the b*tt of something almost twice as expensive. That's my point in hating the Spica.

this is just a cheap android phone, if you keep on complaining alot about this phone, and if you have more money, then go ahead and buy an iphone or galaxy s2

> In reply to Tsarli @ 2011-07-26 06:12 from vx0Q - click to readyou are right about the car 100% but here software does play huge role when it comes to stability, speed and hardware compatability. it's like fuel that feeds your engine.

the problem is, that spica born with Android OS v1.5, one of the first android devices made by samsung. the support cut too early, leaving spica with android 2.1 which is not so good nowadays. furthermore android basis is open-source software, suitable for modding.

if you want good working phone straight out of box, buy nokia, or latest android device such as galaxy s2, htc sencation.
otherwise do not forget http://www.cyanogenmod.com/

the current status of spica non-official development is stable 2.2 froyo working on spica. new 3d drivers are in developement, will make gingerbread 2.3 possible. many thanks to tom3q. more info is here

> In reply to oxyg3n @ 2011-07-25 20:40 from 3L4H - click to readWhy should the user need to modify his/her phone just to make it run properly? No matter how "little use of brains" are needed, the fact remains that you need to go out of your way to make the Spica perform to acceptable standards. No! A phone should run well straight out of the box! Nobody buys a brand new car that MIGHT run well after you fix it up. The Spica is a POS period.

At first glance the specs seem impressive, 800Mhz processor, 320 x 480 pixels capacitive screen w/ 16M colors, etc. Sounds like a real winner right? WRONG! Agonizingly slow, frequently lags and hangs, "capacitive" screen w/c does NOT pinch zoom is a joke, worse than useless 800Mhz processor. The Spica is a hodge podge of seemingly "good" specifications all jumbled up in a device that doesn't know what to do with them.

Recently sold my Spica and bought an entry-level LG P-350. The difference in performance between the two was amazing. This 600Mhz upstart is simply lightyears away in performance compared to the heaving pile of cr*p that is the Spica.

I've rooted my Spica and installed Froyo. That made things slightly bearable, but in the end I decided that I've had enough and sold it. My Android experience was completely tainted by the Spica. Not so w/ my el cheapo P-350. It was everything I hoped for in the Spica but sadly wasn't.
