Omnia II is a Great phone and contender to the HD2. For all you people who think the HD2 is the best, read this by GSM Arena review of the HD2:
The final threat for the HD2 success on the Windows Mobile ring is the more lightweight Samsung I8000 Omnia II, which should definitely be the weapon of choice for all those of you that find the HD2 just too big.
It might not have the brute processing power of the HD2, nor the RAM count, but the actual handling and response are perfect. The 3.7" AMOLED screen, another fully customized UI, huge internal storage, DivX/XviD support out of the box and all kind of software goodies make the I8000 Omnia II a force to be reckoned with in the smartphone field this holiday season. Not to mention it’s got a nicely capable camera and it currently goes for some 150 euro less than the HTC HD2.

Bought my 2GB Omnia 2 from Carphone Warehouse in the UK and it came with Windows 6.5 already pre installed.
After boot up, there is about 75 - 80 mb of RAM left.
The AMOLED display is sexy and this handset can take upto 32 GB memory card !

Though Omnia 2 was released nearly 4 weeks ago and it is available in shops in India, no informations is there in samsung's website regarding the Omnia 2. Only Omnia pro is in the upcoming list for months.

Hi i bought my EU Omnia II, a few weeks after my GF bought her jet.
For starters, to upgrade to winmo 6.5 you will have to wait for microsoft to come with the right tool for it.
Google their web page and in the section of mobiles, you will see that the Omnia 2 is in the coming soon status.
They will provide you with the right tools for proper upgrading.
I was expecting Omnia II to be a HUGE mobile, more like the HD 2, but its not, its def bigger than Jet, but in the hands, it feels smaller than iphone
and much much smaller than the HD2.
The battery is indeed great. The Samsung UI, has completely covered winmo and it does look more like the Jet's one, rather than the rest of winmo devices.
The screen is huge enough and responsive, but it is not as resistant as it should, it already got some scratches, after the first insertion into a leather housing.
Here in the Balkans the retail box of the 8GB includes an extra 8GB card too. (making it a total off 16GB)
The Internet connectivity of this device is marvelous
(from PC cable, WIFI, bluetooth, GPRS, WAP)
The OPERA browser and the the latest Beta are working like a charm and have less flash issues than my previous touch diamond and the first iphone.
The quality of images are far superior to the K750 and N95, still the dedicated music phones have better sound quality.
The Samsung marketplace has very very limited gadgets so far, not even 10% of the Android or Apple alternatives.
Were this phone rocks, is the video quality, both the Films and video recording.
Its not as good as the HD, but its the closest to it
and considering its potential and overall superiority,
its a no brainer IMO. Unless you dont have a video-camera and value HD video that much...
IMO Omnia II is only technically inferior than HTC HD II, but personally, i couldnt get beyond the size of that phone.
N97, iphone 3G, Hero, Jet and HD are not match for that beast. My reasons, since i ve personally tried all those phones and were my contenders for acquisition:
-N97; no real smartphone, it has half the RAM and screen pixel resolution.
-iphone; half the pixel resolution and in utube video and browser pages, it does shows and makes the difference! Thats the first time my iphone friends ever got impressed by a non iphone mobile!
Could be the UI presentation, screen or the revamped winmo, but the look at their face, was shining of ... jealousy :-)
-Hero; still no proper GPS program, camera, display
-Jet; Samsung widgets only is a Huge limitation, if size is the greatest factor though, i would advice it.
-Samsung HD; limited OS, limited display, lesser 3G quality
-HTC HD 2; is the best choice overall, but it has two issues, smaller battery and a size that really cant enter in a pocket. Omnia 2, in a thin leather sleeve, occupies the same space my touch diamond used to occupy, in a similar case!!
