what to do with my hand set as it can't save any contact in the directory though empty,but when the simcard is put in another hand set , it can store contact addresses. thanks

I bought a new battery for my phone Mc936 but it tells me that the battery status is unknown and whenever I try to charge it, it dries up the battery such that there's no power left on the battery what can I do for this phone please help.
