I agree with the first comment from Jenny. I have the propel and i had it since it first came out and loved it until everyone i called fomr it couldn't hear me due to a loud buzzing noise. Turns out the water damage indicator is pink but my phone has NEVER been dropped or emersed in water ever! If someone was to look through my phone there would be NO signs of water damage but apparently it is all because the indicator is pink. And come to think about it when I first got the phone i dont ever remember it being white. For this reason I reccomend spending the extra money and using verizon!

We bought two Propels on the 2 for 1 deal last Christmas. One kept switching off so we called the warranty. They said that beccause the moisture detector had turned red the warranty was voided. We were puzzled because it hadn't been anywhere near water, so we looked at the other phone too--and guess what, that sticker was also red. And I KNOW that one hasn't been in water.
The tech said we must have taken both phones in the bathroom or kitchen. You don't say! Isn't that why they're MOBILE?
I am furious because this is very clearly a defect but ATT will not do a thing except sell us new phones. I would strongly suggest that you do not buy this phone, and that you don't buy from ATT if they are unreasonable about obvious faults in their phones. This is a scam.

I just got this phone 4 days ago so far i am very satisfied, im a huge texter so the querty keyboard is a must have for me, samsung managed to compact the keyboard in quite nicely without making it to cramped up, its a little tight around the top edge but you can get used to it.
The camera is only 1.3mp but i find its pretty decent for a low budget phone, a few options you can play around with like adding effects and so on, if your looking for a higher quality camera, youll have to look at a more expensive phone, or go out and buy a digital camera, the video is decent as long as you have good lighting, longest ive been able to record is 28 seconds though, im thinking it would be longer with a larger memory card, i only have 2g in right now..but no biggie.
the media player is easy to navigate, sound is clear and loud.
The battery life is decent if you know how to work it, for example when you first get the phone charge it for like 12hrs, let your battery fully drain before charging it again, keep your backlighting and brightness as low as you can, i manage to keep this phone charged for about two days, and honestly ive had a lot of phones, some cheap and some expensive and theyre batteries was no better than this one, but i will say that an extended battery for this phone would be great!!!
all in all its a good little phone for people who dont want to spend a lot of money on a high end pda, if your looking for the function of a high end pda i suggest you bypass this phone. and should remember that you can always find a fault with any phone your going to buy cheap or expensive!!!!

You need to flush and unlocked your Rogers Propel in order to use all ringtones and movies. Cost? $15-$50

I have had my Propel for 3 months and I love it. The battery life is good for me but I don't use it that much. I will, however, agree with the moisture indicator turning red way too easily. I have not had my phone near water EVER and it turned pinkish. My phone crapped out (not due to the water - it was electricuted) and I changed the water indicator sticker with one I purchased on eBay.
My question is this: Is there some other indicator the techs can find inside the phone? I'm afraid if I send this off for warranty that there may be another way to tell if it has been around moisture.

I just got this phone from Rogers, and I like to have my own customized ringtones. So using the software, I was able to transfer my own ringtones in the rintones section of the phone, but it won't let me use it as a ringtone. How do I do it?

I have had mine for about a month now, and all in all it's a good phone if you can keep it alive. I am a technician who is on the phone almost all day long, I also used the navigator, internet, and e-mail features daily. On an average day, I am using voice on the phone about 3 hours, the internet about and hour and a half, and the navigator around an hour and generally I can make it through and 8 - 10 hour workday without charging it. The battery meter drops to one bar fairly quick but depending on how you conserve that last bar, it can live for an hour plus of talk time (not speakerphone... only about 35 mins, there). All in all the features are cool, the keyboard is a bit tiny for someone with large fingers, and the battery leaves a little bit to be desired - but it's a good phone, and pretty durable (when dropped from nearly any height, the battery shell comes off and the battery pops out - and the surface will scratch if dropped on concrete (yes, I beat up my phones). It's worth it all in all, but I'd love an extended battery option.

> In reply to groovy girl @ 2009-01-17 03:12 from jj5UThe key word in your comment is that this is your "sons" phone. The water indicator on a phone does not turn red from humidity alone (I have tested this by taking phones into the bathroom while taking extreamly long hot showers on multiple occasions and have never seen any indication of water damage or indicator turning red). What more likely happened is that your son got the phone wet and was too scared to tell you because he knew it was a costly mistake. I know we want to trust our kids but one of their biggest fears is disapponting their parents and they will lie through their teeth if they think it will keep them in your good graces.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-02-15 05:34 from 4TMqOkay I have the Palm Centro and It is a really great phone when it comes to features but It gets scratches quickly and it looks horrible. Also I haven't had this phone for a year yet and my whole keyboard is gone. Like I have nothing there so I have to use the on screen keyboard but that's just me. My friend also has the Palm Centro and he has problems hearing and had to send his phone back two times. It's internet it great though and you can watch youtube videos etc. If you get the Palm just make sure you get insurance on it like when it starts to get scratches ;] lol. I really want the Propel though because a friend of mines has it and it is great to type on and that's all I want. I don't use the internet on my phone anymore so I told my mom I just need unlimited texting. The Palm is more for internet preferences. So it all depends on what you want in a phone. The propel also has internet though it's just that the Palm Centro has better feature with the internet and without it's pretty much just texting.

I love the phone features but the battery life is horrible, it runs out of battery in very light usage and you will have to charge it constantly, my husband and myself both got one and we are returning them, this seems to be a problem I saw on the attand t web forum with some users who returned theirs too

I got this phone.
It is great for IM with MSN, Yahoo, or AIM. Gtalk is not an option!
Email is set up for Windows LIVE, Yahoo, AOL, AIM, Bellsouth, Comcast, Earthlinnk, juno, mindspring, and netzero.
GMAIL IS NOT AN OPTION!!!
I was able to get gmail to work by installing the gmail client, or by web browsing to gmail. In fact, The client from gmail works better than the built in email options in the phone IMHO.

> In reply to groovy girl @ 2009-01-17 03:12 from jj5USame here after 1 month. This is ridiculous. The ATT agent said the red sticker indicates water damage and so the warranty is void. One month of use. DON'T GET THIS PHONE!

> In reply to groovy girl @ 2009-01-17 03:12 from jj5UI live in Georgia, but went to West Palm Beach ,Florida for 2 weeks. I was outside pretty much the whole time and my phone had no problem with the humidity. Your situation sounds like a defect with the phone.
