I have had my phone now for about 6 months. In as far as durability goes I have no problems with it. I've dropped it a couple of times as I have been taking it out of my pocket or getting out of the car and it survived without even a scratch. As a tradesman I don't need and don't use much of the other features. What I do need it for however, making and recieving calls, it fails miserably. I have had it back to Samsung once for repairs however no faults were found. I have taken it back again today so fingers crossed. It seems to regularly freeze, reception is scratchy at best and calls drop out frequently. My next phone will not be a Samsung if these problems persist. I will keep you updated.

I bought the phone just to weeks ago. The can-clip broke the first time I attached it to my phone and let it dangle from my pants. Lucky I caught the phone before it droped to the floor. Then the screen broke in my pocket just today. Not exactly what I expected considering the phone is meant to be rugged!

To extend battery life, press *#7288# this will deactivate gprs reception. In the network menu, turn off 3g.

> In reply to olly @ 2009-03-26 20:19 from iA9aI have a B2700 and after 2 months of use it started freezing / crashing / rebooting as soon as I would move a little rapidly : walking or lifting it normally was enough !

After long research and trial and error I found out that disactivating the Pedometer (Applications > Pedometer) stoped the crashes. Re-enabling the pedometer would recreate the crashing problem reproducably.

I have fixed this problem permanently by resetting (deleting) the Pedometer data. I guess beyond a certain number of steps the memory is full and overflows into the system as soon as a "step" is detected, causing a system reboot.

Excellent phone for hard, outdoors usage. I never worry with taking it to the beach or water sports or while biking. You can hang it by your belt and use it as a pedometer. The compass also works fine. My biggest surprise was how loud this phone can ring, which is way more than any other phone I've ever used, including old SIEMENTS rugged phones. Some people may not like the small screen and the 2.0MP camera, but you don't get such a phone for the looks or the typical features of a mobile phone, you get it so you can use it outdoors. The only cons I can find are the extra weight (though not too heavy) and some functions in the menu, which are not as good as in other samsung phones.

All phones can have problems, including Nokia , yes nokia its not perfect.

The good..
-good looks and feel
-zippy through menus
-powerful torch
The bad...
-crap battery life
-freezes regularly
-asks "ok?" after everything you do, drives me crazy
-bad messaging experience

Overall, I think samsung is far behind nokia in usability. I owned a 6300 before, and everything can be modified to suit you, and its so easy to use.
The samsung on the other hand can be so frustrating to use, it struggles to achieve good results in some of the easy tasks it shoud fly through! Don't make the same mistake and buy this phone, wait till nokia bring out their new rugged phone
