Does this phone has a standalone GPS chip or only A-GPS?

This Samsung C6625 is a nice looking phone with Windows 6.1 standard (non touch), but it can not be upgraded to 6.5 due to a lack of internal memory and processing power. The phone almost looks like a Blackberry, but with a bigger screen size. Resolution is good when using other apps (I will mention the best apps later),sound quality is very good when using loudspeaker, but when it is off, sound is a bit muffled when talking to people. The first time I use this phone the battery was excellent - lasting nearly two days, but now after several charges, to it's full capacity, the battery now lasts less than a day, and I'm always afraid that the phone will cut out on me anytime during the day, and when you need it the most. Using your data plan, internet will shorten the life of the battery even more. For example I was on the internet for half an hour and 2 battery bars out of four have gone down from when I start up the phone - terrible!

The camera pictures are good. In fact they are a lot better than my old sony VGA phone. You can adjust the size and quality , which is good, but there's no flash. Day pictures looks better than them taken in the dark. Also, indoor pictures are not bad, but you must have surfficent light for a decent shot and with a steady hand too!! Video quality is good too. At 25fps (depending on settings)it is very fluid with no jerking, and you can record any lenght depending on how much memory you have. This beats back the low-end LG phones.

Right! Back to making phone calls. When starting up the phone, it does take a while to get going, you have to wait till everying boots-up, even to make a call otherwise it just hangs! On some ocassions, when moving around on the main screen to use apps or to make a phone call, it has hung on me and I had to remove the battery and re-start the phone.

The best apps to use on this phone are as follows:

1) Skyfire web broswer. Forget using flashlite and your MS internet exployer, Skyfire has flash, silverlite, flv and more built into one web brower with sound, and whats more it's free!! It can display full html webpages NOT old WAP. Watch Youtube, MiiTV, Last Fm etc - check it out and download it free (in the form of a CAB file)from skyfire.com

2)Kinoma FreePlay. Kinoma is an all-in-on-one multimedia programme. It plays your media files you already have on your phone as well as play streaming media from your internet - Youtube, audio books, radio stations, pod casts, photos, also from your storage card, flicker, and more. Kinoma FreePlay is very quick in accessing your files. This programme is free, but is limited in that you can not make posts to your twitter or Facebook accounts, nor can you access certain stations. The down-side here is that if you want to purchase the full working version, it will set you back $29!!! For more info check out and dowload a free trial version from kinoma.com

3)MoTweets. This is a good Twitter app for posting tweets. You can add pictures, shorten links, reply, retweet, make private messages etc. You can download a free version from panoramicsoft.com

4)SPB Radio, and TV etc. -see link for more! These are good apps which you can use on your phone. You can check out the Trial versions for free, but you can also purchase them full versions from spb.com

5)Google maps. I think most of us know this already, but for those who are new to this, it's a great map application that is free to download from Google. You can search for palaces anywhere around the world and use your GPS too. See google.com
6)Facebook,Myspace,Bing apps etc. from Microsoft centre. There are some free apps from Microsoft; however,to join you will to have a hotmail address, and download windows marketplace app to your phone. See link for more details microsoft.com

OK,now for the PROS of Samsung C6625 phone:-

-Big screen, nice spaced out keys
-Good value for money for a high speck phone, if you are on a budget.Good low price, it won't break the bank like the Iphone/ Blackberry or other expensive phones.
-Good for business use, very smart,good-looking phone.
-looks good in your hand, Blackberry style.
- Sim free phone. Takes most sim cards, but it had trouble recognizing 3 UK.
- Great screen resolution when using Skyfire and Kinoma Freeplay.
-Comes Pre-loaded with Windows 6.1 Standard; Office; apps including Midomi; Shozu; Flashlite (I could not get this to work); Windows media player; Samsung home displays; JAVA (I found it keeps hanging when loading Java apps);Pdf reader (I have not tried this yet);push email; Radio with RDS feeds (I love this, it works great, and can add new stations. You can even use the loudspeaker on it ); Camera; Windows Live;Organizer; Video call; Voice mail; good sound Equelizer presets (this only works when you put in your headphones); GPS (it works better on Bing than on Google maps).

THE BIG CONS:

-The battery life is rubbish and does not last a whole day;therefore, the phone is no good for use abroad, unless you have spares, which will cost you £38 per battery!
- Phone needs to be re-charged ever few hours. Even though you switch off the apps from the Task Manager, battery still drains. Now what happens when you don't have your charger socket with you - tough luck!
-It's a tri-band phone and not a quad-band like most modern phones.
-Slow start-up/boot-up
-You can not quickly access apps or make a phone call, you have to go through a number of steps to do this!
-MS Internet explorer is rubbish in displying webpages. It can't disply flash nor stream sound. to over come this, use Skyfire web broswer!
-No phone cases available.
-Not much apps for Windows 6.1 standard ( you will see they mostly cater for Windows touchscreen professional,Iphone, Symbian and Android phones).
-You can not upgrade to Windows 6.1 nor 7 due to processing power and memory.

I hope this helps!

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2010-02-17 12:27 from vGj7 - click to readThe windows mobiles are quit easy to operate when compared to other phones, but getting used to nokia/SE/lg/Samsung people feel difficult in using these phones.

In terms of configuring and other option they are very straight and much easy to do.

there is quick launch button for the web browser, which will launch the internet explorer.

Really a good basic business windows phone. in India we get it for 7k rupees.

Battery lasts for one day only requires charing everyday , even when put under automatic power managing mode.

headphone doesnot have a 3.5 mm out.

Well its not true about standby time for 300 hours, coz its only last for 24 hours..
Samsung can't provide great battery for this phone..
But beside that problem, i do really really love this phone!!
It's totally awesome!!

> In reply to acenk @ 2009-11-17 03:41 from Mfxn - click to readhi there,

to disconnect the internet just shortly push the red button, and the connection will be off in about a sec or two, it will automatically reconnect if your apps trying to use the internet, otherwise you might want to install gprs/3g 1or5mins auto disconnect program just google for it, it will save you lot of wasted time and money if you use time based connection.

depends on the location and network, this phone is a real fast USB pnp modem, before indonesian provider indosat (IM3) limmits the HSDPA connection speed i could download 90MB In less than 8.5 mins without a wireless broadband subcription. and score about 1300kbps down/64kbps up.
Damn... i really want those days back...

cheers
