Bought this phone a week back, being the first time owning a Samsung I can't really comment on how good it is or not in comparison to the D600.
This is the first real move up for me in the mobile phone market and I must say I am very impressed with my D800. Some have said the texting is bad? I have large fingers and have experienced very little problems with the texting mode one criticism I have on that is the predictive texting ( total waste of space ) Samsung take a look at the Motorola L6 predictive texting is spot on.
Love the compactness of the phone but hate the browser button being incorporated in the main centre button I keep finding I have to cancel it a lot.
The playback on the MP3 and videos is quite low????? but not a real problem however videoing drag seriously needs a look at?
Love the compactness of the phone and the loss of Mega Pixel people talk about doesn’t really bother me.
My major snipes on this phone are:
1. Battery life is abysmal I have to charge the thing every day however my Nokia 3220 has not been recharged in the past four days.
2. The My folder feature is a total waste of space. the statement my folder would suggest it is for your personal messages / pictures however Samsung forgot to integrate a password protection for this file so making it publicly available should you have nosey friends and family. Granted you can input a phone lock pin etc but once you've done that your phone is extremely venerable.
Lets hope the phone has a flash memory ability and Samsung develop an free software upgrade to close that loophole.
3. The fact that you loose the mega pixels and the phone does not allow for upgrading memory I can see being a major bug bare for some and to say the Phone is an upgrade of the D600 concerns me because looking at both phones knowing what I know now about the both phones I’d have gone with the D800 even if it is a little more bulky.
All the mini moaning apart I think this phone is a very good phone. But the my folder situation is a major issue to me and would have governed my choice of how much I paid for the phone.
it is the most horrible phone i hav ever seen it is no better than the d600
Great phone but............doesn't work properly in USA , always show "R" on display
and had very bad reception.
the samsung D600 is way better then D800. the
D600 has more features, better camra 2 mega pixels 81 mb memory and much much more
please take the samsung D800 off da market please
I just got this phone and honestly I am not loving it. the # button is very hard to press b/c of the design of the phone. Text messaging isn't as easy as it should be b/c of the keypad layout design. I suggest another phone.
I don't know evrything about phones, like most ppl but i think this's fantastic. If like me,yoo're not a sadact who cares about Megapixles and all that rubbish which these lot do I recommend it.You'll be the envy of all your friends.ps the keypad is sound, don't listen to these txt'eads
i have this phone just got it.. i don't like it though.... screen is easy to scratch and its kinda big >_> i don't really suggest getting this phone its ok for like "show" value but other than that its not so great
u'd rather get the d600...
Can someone tell me why the keypad on the Samsung D800 does not light up at night please. It is hard to see in the dark places, unlike other phones that the keypad always light up when in use.
i buy one month ago but inside one problem some time its hang why i dont no sorry about this but its true.
Hi all, I just received this phone couple days ago. It's light and has an attractive look. One problem is that I couldn't find the "Voice Command" option in the "Application" menu, although it's mentioned in the user menu. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.
hey all! i bought this phone about two months ago and i think its one of the better phones out there. i traded my d500 for this and the functions are quite similiar. my friend bought the nokia 6270 which is like the 808 and the functions on her phone are not quite user-friendly. the only complaint i have with this phone is that the speaker phone sucks and the keypad is aweful for text messaging. all in all, i think samsung is doing a great job on improving their phones in such a competitive market.
does anyone know where abouts on the phone you can connect a wrist strap if you can at all
well i brought this fone just last night after my old fone dying.. several times... and im in love with it.. i love the screen... its really slim.. alot smiller than the other slidey fones..
I LOVE IT
Hey..hi there to all..can someone who owns a samsung d800 let me know whether it has the voice clarity function or not..i wud be so thankful.
Had this phone for 3 days after crunching my D500, and it's living up to my expectations. I agree that the keypad could be better, but the functions outperform those on the D500. The screen is excellent, especially the facility to have your videos play on full screen. On the performance so far, I'd recommend this phone !
