I got this phone yesterday and already I cant wait to take it back - I loved it at first but that was before I tried to text on it - its practically impossible - the space button is awful, and u have to press each button quite hard. Also it has to be said its quite thick and too sqaure - Samsung has got most things right on this - just forgot that it would be nice for the keypad to work occasionally!!! Dont buy it!!!!

You can get the white version at a phone shop inside the Lisboa hotel & casino in Macau. (Pls. note that my D808 is an OME version, not a grey market phone!)

FYI, You can buy the white version in Mainland China.

Please, please, please don't buy this phone. If you insist on a Samsung, go for something like a D600. The D800 deserves to burn in a pit of firey torment. It's hell to develop games on, and not particularly good at running them anyway. The keypad is also quite nasty. There's virtually no action in the buttons, so it's hard to tell whether you've pressed the button properly or not. It also doesn't have seperate buttons, so all too often you will press 6, and it will think you pressed 3 too! Aesthetically, it takes the D500 & D600 case design, removes all the coolness, and squares out the edges.

it is low wide and attracts sight from all around. samd800 is luxry flat bar with sliding construction. featuring a display of exceptinal quality and pretty rich software equipment.the two part slide smoothly .brilliant display with QVGA resolution.phone weight is only 98 grams.

you can minimize it, but you can't use functions as the camera for example. But you can still use textmessages and stuff. I wouldn't recommened to use mp3 on your cellphone anyways. (IT DRAINS!) And you don't use a slick dsign phone for mp3. You use it to impress ppl?

The review for this phone says the mp3 player is NOT minizable, but the one i recently bought, you CAN minimize the mp3 player and it will play songs in the background while you are using other functions on the phone. Just htought i would point that out. Plus it supports voice dialing.

I have a D720..love it. But It has same Idle screen issue like this one. Wish I can see time and date. Another thing is D720's service light doesn't flash when you get a misscall or sms like my other samsung flip phones does.It gives only one message and goes black after 10 seconds. It really bothers me coz every now and then I have to press buttons and keep checking when the phone is not with me.
Is it same with D800?

By the way D800 is not a D600 upgrade. You might say its D870..but then D870 has a different form factor(whole front panel doesn't slide up,it has a base)..which looks more like a D820 upgrade.

Ok call me simple but judging by the d600 being an upgrade to the d500 then surely the d800 is a step further SO WHY THE HELL HAVE THEY GON BACK TO A 1.3MP camera !!!!

note to a comment before me.. it lacks an idle screen.. you have to press the volume button to see the time..why? I think it's because the type of screen samsung has used. It seems that the d800 has a darker screen than the d500. I own the d800 and I think it s really great..it's looks great and I don't need music (80mb is plenty)/radio/memerycard on a phone, SO yes Ï'm quite happy with it. The battery sucks though.

Missing FM Radio. It has become essential feature now for the money.

Considering buying this phone. I have a D500 and like the fact that when its idle the time and date are displayed on the screen, something which was lacking on the D600. Can anyone tell me if the D800 has this facility please?
