Considering buying this phone. I have a D500 and like the fact that when its idle the time and date are displayed on the screen, something which was lacking on the D600. Can anyone tell me if the D800 has this facility please?

What's the difference between this and the D870, apart from the camera?

the video quality isn't so good as the review says. The picture quality is great but the audio is very crappy. Nokia n70 has better videorecorder and 6280 has unbelievable 640*480 resolution videorecording. If the video recorder is an important issue when buying a mobilephone, i dont suggest this one

The review says "Do not try to assign the phonebook application to the down-way key of the navigation button, as it is no good. Quite surprising, but true."
Can I ask why?

Personally, I think the Z540 is a much better phone except I like the fact that the D800 is a slide phone as opposed to flip. Apart rom that I like everything more about the Z540

Yeah that's exactly right, this is an excellent phone; nice responsive, easy-to-follow menu system, amazing screen, good quality camera and excellent sound reproduction for it's size. Samsung really have the multimedia end of things covered.
Oh, and 1.3MP Camera as opposed to 2.0? You're comparing a miniscule amount of pixels, if you want proper photos buy yourself a digital camera.(This goes for both phones)
Little annoyances include:
- the keypad buttons - which are not the easiest in the world to use, but I guess it's the price to pay for good looks. They're not impossible to use, it's just that sometimes you press the wrong button because there is little distinction between them.
- lack of memory card slot - which is a real shame because it features amazing MP3 playback and playlist management. Unless you're looking specifically for a phone and MP3 solution in one 80MB is plenty to play with.
Pros include:
+ Excellent screen - Brilliant, vibrant and well-saurated. Naturally a Samsung LCD Panel
+ Excellent multimedia handling. Support for MP3, AAC, AAC+, e-AAC+, MIDI, WAV & WMA, who could ask for more.
+ Features - No it's not a D600, but heck it does just about everything a D600 does.
+ Awesome design - This is business-class at it's finest. This phone does for sliders what the RAZR did for flip phones. And if you're like me you'd prefer this sorta design over the eggshell-D600 design anyday.
+ Sturdy slide - It slides smoothly on sturd metal railings. One slide and you know immediately that this thing ain't gonna fail anytime soon.
Cheers.

This is true. You can't choose to have vibration + tone at the same time. Don't know why. You CAN choose to have it vibrating before the tones start tho, works fine for me but the setting you're mentioning would be even better.

It's just incredible, i downloaded the manual, and it seems that it's still impossible to create in your calendar a note like "call XXX", where XXX is someone who's in your contacts.....
Nokia does it since ages, god, D500/600/800 users, tell me there's a way to be reminded to call someone like on any Nokia phone... ??? (if yes i buy it. .. ...)
