newsflash....solved my problem regarding mp3 files as ringtone. it has to do with size i was using a 11mb file once i shrunk the file to 9mb it worked. i guess this phone has a limitation of 10mb on ur mp3, that is if u want to use the mp3 as ringtone.

for my dissapointment it does not allow me to use some mp3 files as ringtone. altough i can play these files. how odd is that?!!?

ok, after reading some posts in here found out that to use the music or photos is as easy as pressing * or # in my items menu.
also found out that the phone wont read music with a long name
e.g.
it wont read
Suzana Feat. Just Jay & Nelson & Johnny Ramos - Mas un Bes.mp3
but it will read
Suzana - Mas un Bes
Still having difficulty exporting my address book to a pc since ive upgrade to the Samsung PC studio Version 3.2.1 GJ9
Pc Studio Launcher Version 3.2.0 GJ2
otherwise it is a great phone. shame it can take up to 4GB memory cards
any help is appreciated.

As the user R.M.VIJ mentioned this phone as serious issue with the volume, even at max its not good enough.
I also noted that the memmory card is just there as a storage device.
Is not integrated in the system like Nokias or Erissons are.
Lets say you storage some music or photos onto the card and plan to use the music as a ringtone...it wont allow you to. It will only play in the media player.
Is there any reason for this?? And more important are there ways to solve this issue, maybe with a firmware upgrade?!?!?!

The space alloted to Java App is too small 4Mb! Is there any way to increase this and is it possible to execute games/appz from sd card?

I am from Nigeria, i bought Samsung SGH D880 but discovered that items loaded on the memory card can not be retrieved, please how do i retrieve this as they are important documents i loaded therein. you can reply me on talk2jokie@yahoo.com. please i will appreciate your early response. thanks. I puchased this D880 mobile about 15 days back mainly to avoid two phones, but I am verymuch disapponted. I was using N70 before that but have found following problums and negetive points in this phone:
1] The music quality is very low as compared
to N70. The max volume is very low and you
get irritated while listening to music
because you do not get the words properly.
I visited the Samsung Service Centre to
complain butI was told that I should have
checked it before purchasing.
2] It a big problum to go to Card by pressing
star every time you wish to go to files on
the card.
3] There is problum in the second sim as the
signal is never proper and voice is also
not clear and is always with interuptions.
4] The volume of ringtone is also very low
at the max level and sometimes you miss
the call when themobileisinother room
orin the pocket.
I am so much desappointed that Iam ready to
sell it for 2500-3000 less within 15 days
of purchase.

I have a Samsung d880. When I go to Messages then to My messages & inbox my phone goes to initialize itself.
Can it be because of firmware? Any idea? please help

The ones i have received were standby in otherwords the phone had to be switched between sims and would power cycle to switch no simultaneus calls incoming or outgoing one sim at a time only in other words

hi a weak ago i bought this sgh-880 samsung set with duo sim usage feature, but it has lot of problem
i also have nokia 6300 set
on comprision
when i loaded songs and pics same on both the sets i found nokia 6300 played all the songs and pics (no format problem) but the samsung set never able to open most of files, i loaded from my pc
Really a bad experience with the use of the samsung set, now thinking of selling to second hand buyer

BAD:
1-very slow software
2-bad sync with other phones
3-can't see calendar when you talk at phone
4-can't or very difficulty to see number of saved numbers in phonebook, neither even see numbers on your SIM
5-second SIM has not same volume, so if you have bloototh in car, have problems like 1st SIM is too high, other is too low
GOOD:
only 2 SIM's

it is quite crap. i hate the user manual and the fact that you cannot download any java applications to your memory card.if anyone has any info as to where i could download themes plz mail me at muahzim@gmail.com.cos thats anuda characteristic i hate.thanks
