Samsung D880 Duos - user opinions and reviews

Samsung

I changed cards by software, and the card in SIM2 (wich is set to primary) still have the problem, so I think it can be a limitation of SIM2 socket.

If someone can try it, I will appreciate.

I have found a problem with MMS.

With SIM1 I can send and receive MMS without problems, but with SIM2 I only can send MMS, not receive. I changed SIM cards (SIM1 to SIM2 and viceversa) phisically I mean, not by software, and the problem is still there. So, it's a problem of D880 or a problem of my unit?

Can someone try it and post the results, please?

Thankyou.

No problem Marcelo, I only try to help people. When I was searching information of D880 'cause I wanted to know if it's a good phone to buy, I found nothing on the net, only the english manual and a couple of videos in youtube. Now that I have the phone I think is good idea to help other people to decide.

MARIUS:

If you want to send the MMS directly, you can't choose, you send it with SIM1, but if you save the MMS as Draft, when you go to the draft folder, then you can choose to send it with SIM1 or SIM2.

THEGAME:

The videos you record with the phone are stored in MP4 format. The player can play MP4 and 3GP.

Hi Marius

I received the D880 today and I can now answer like a user too.

Yes, you can. Select the name you want to call, and then push the lateral button to select the sim. The same goes to SMS.

Hope this helps you to buy it.

I have only one question for Marcelo (as a user): can you do the same switch with the lateral button when you make a call from agenda...like: you can keep the cursor over one agenda name and then select with the lateral button from what sim you want to make the call?

thank you in advance Marcelo...

Hi Marius and others!

@ Marcelo:

1) Are the ringers loud? Or is it a faint tone for the 1st cpl of seconds THEN gets loud (ie D600)-->yes they are. No problem unless you have hearing problem.

2) Can the camera shutter sound be turned off?-->havent tested yet. I think so.

3) Is there a light for the camera? If there is, could it be used as a flashlight?-->yes/NO

4) The specs do not list T9 as a feature. Does it have T9?-->Yes it has.

Emailthegame 2008-01-21 03:34 jMJK Maybe there are some options that U can set, so U don.t have to reboot the phone when U.re makijng a call from the second sim...I don.t know, but who told us the we have to reboot the phone? and where did the phone was bought...I dont think that are 2 different models, maybe different sttings or softare versions maybe...in my country (Romania) the price for thie model is arround 400eu...how much did U pay for it Marcelo? ... i.m thinking on buying one of the cect model...it.s arround 70eu...made of plastic & inox with an TV reciver & 2Gb card...but I.m not sure of it.s resistance...I.ve heard that in time they are decompose piece by piece...what do U think guys? Marcelo what about the sliding mechanism, it works/seems/resists OK?-->

the sliding mechanism is ok. No very steady but it slides just fine! I think that the story abouth two different models is beacause you have:

1- d880 with duos logo and russian letters on the keypad

2-d880 withOUT the duos logo en NO russian letters on the keypad

The reboot probleem is probely in the software because, mine is flashed cause it has a dutch menu, wich isnt posible without flasing it with new software. So i think that everybody who has this problem should flash the. Cause i dont have to reboot to call from my second sim.

And if I'm in conversation with one of the sims and somebody rings my on the other number i get a BEEP to notify me that i have second line on the other sim. Ive read that some of the users could not use this option.

Gr,

Marcelo
