Samsung D880 Duos - user opinions and reviews

Samsung

I have purchased a Samsung Duos SGH-D880 for my wife & compared it with my Wind Duo2200 I got recently and here is what I can tell you:

0- I paid less for the Samsung
1- The Samsung gift box does not contain any external storage card (vs. 2x1GB for Wind Duo2200)
2- The SGH-D880 unit is very bulky and weights more than the Wind Duo2200
3- On the Samsung, you cannot make a phone call, send SMS, read SIM card SMS, from a Line unless it is set as primary - You are only allowed to select one of the two sim cards as primary. You can set a sim card as primary either from the Settings or from the shortcut button on the left. The unit will have to be automatically restarted as soon as the primary card is changed, whereas on the WND you can make/receive calls and send SMS from both lines without having to make any switch or restart your unit.
4- Unlike with the Wind Duo2200, on the Samsung you can’t conduct/rceive two calls from the two SIMS at the same time (you can even conference on the WindDuo)
5- Contacts: Total 1000 phone contacts (vs. 2x1000 on Duo2200)
6- One contact list for both SIMs on the Samsung Duo880 compared with a choice of two or one combined list on the Wind Duo2200 (I like this on the Wind bcs I can separate between my professional and personal contacts)
7- Samsung Camera is 3MP vs 2x2MP cameras on the Wind Duo
8- Samsung screen is larger than a single screen on the WND
9- When comparing the same screen surface, WND resolution is higher
10- PC Synchronization software on the Samsung is more user friendly than on the WND
11- SMS: Total 200 SMS vs 300 on WindDuo
12- One call history on the SGH-D880 compared to a choice of 1 or two on the WindDuo2200
13- Samsung is a single side sliding bar, WND is a dual face bar
14- Both are made in Korea
15- All other options like MP3 player etc.. are almost the same on both units.
16- The quality of construction is higher on the WND (the unit looks much more expensive)
I chose the WND whereas my wife who is very much brand oriented (like major wives ;) picked the Samsung. A decision that in my opinion she would soon regret :)

I am using it with 2 sim cards (one national and one from other oversees contry) without any problem. Both are working together, I can receive message from the oversee Sim and reply using the local sim...I find it great so far...

hello guys, i have 2 d880. I can tell you than ONLY ONE SIM WORK AND THE OTHER ONE SAYS NO SERVICE, SO THEY DONT WORK AT THE SAME TIME. I tried 2 sim cards from different carriers, 2 sims from same carrier and the response is the same, you have to switch to activate the other line. So my final words are that the phone cannot work with two actives lines. I will try now the wind duo 2200. Even though is not the most recognized brand i have read about it and everybody seems to be happy and it supposed to work with 2 sim cards at the same time.

guys, I really wonder why you would go for this upgrade of the famous D600 for USD700, when you can get a cheaper make of dual sim card phone made by the Chinese at USD 150. I have had such a phone for over a year now with dual sim card slots plus a memory card slot, with tones more features than this phone such as MP4, 5.2 mega pixel camera and stunning sound better than sony ericsson.

your phone can only read ONE SIM at a time!!!! when you have Line one active it reads only that one, and when u activate the other it reads that only!!!!! IT ONLY SAVE you 30seconds of Switching SIM cards, and save you the trouble of having two phone but then again u can only have one active line at a time anyway..... correct me if im wrong!!!! i've heard heard and seen dual sims, havent seen them with two active line on one phone !!!! have fun spending on these dual sim stuff!!!

I'm from the philippines, why smsung always making a slider design, why they don't make a good candy bar design bcoz it is more durable. we wish they produce a duo sim, Tv-out 3g, in a candy bar design. thank you.
