I tried it yesterday and heres how I see it. Both the sims are active and can receive calls and text message. If your using the primary sim and someone is calling you from the secondary sim, the caller gets a busy tone. I don't recall the phone showing a notice that someone was calling the second sim. I think the only concern is that it needs to restart when changing from primary to secondary. I'm still thinking if I should get it..hhmmmmm....

if you need a cellphone with Dual Active SIM, you should try the Versio brand Duplii or Twinn model phone. Look for My phone Duo as well.

I believe that you can receive both call and SMS on Both SIMS, right?
But you can call ONLY and reply ONLY to SMS using the primary SIM unless you switched the PRIMARY SIM, right?
Any feedback from you friends there...

What happens when you choose to make a call from the 2nd SIM using the button you referred to? Doesn’t your phone restart?!
(are you another Samsung Salesman who is trying to push this product?)

I have the D880, great phone if you have two gsm sim cards. And you don't need to turn it off to switch sims. You can make a call from any sim by just switching from on sim to another using a button on the side. You can also receive calls from sim 2 if you are on sim 1, just by putting the person on sim1 on hold to andswer sim2. It's actually very simple.

I just came from a Samsung reseller. Both SIMs are dual stand-by. You can make calls only from the SIM that has been set as Primary. They told me that you have to reboot your phone by pressing the change sim button if you want to make a call from SIM2.

On this unit -no matter where in the world you are- , a SIM can make calls only when set as primary (only one SIM can be set as primary)and this process will require the handset to restart. However if you are in North America (ie: USA) then you will not be able to use the 2nd SIM at all, because SIM2 function in this Samsung only supports Dual band, whereas you need at least a Tri band handset to work in the USA/ North America. I believe Samsung engineers were unable to fit two Triband antennas in this unit without making it bigger -the unit is big enough alreeady- because Triband antennas are usually bigger than dualband antennas. I bought this unit from hi-mobile and used it for few days before passing it to a family member who happens to be less demanding in two SIMs mobile communication

Do you use it in North America? But can I receive a call to the second SIM? Or I need to restart it to get a call too?

I have a DuoS and the phone needs to be restarted every time I want to call from the 2nd SIM card. This phone is a Dual Standby SIM and not a Dual Active SIM and therefore it's only good if you rarely use the 2nd SIM.
If you are looking for a Dual SIM active handset then try http://www.gsmarena.com/wnd_wi...200-2166.php

On the product page:
Master SIM: Tri-band with full phone functions
Slave SIM: Dual-band with call & SMS capability only
Can I receice calls to the second SIM on 1900Mhz band (US/Canada). Did someone use it in North America? Please help. I don't want to waste money, pretty expensive here.

Please beware that there are 2 different models Samsung D880 (no DuoS logo above the screen) and Samsung D880 DuoS (there is DuoS logo above the screen). Both sim cards do not work at the same time and the sims have to be switched in Samsung D880. However, both sims do work at the same time in the DuoS model without switching. The DuoS model is made for the Russian market and has Russian alphabet on the keys.

Hi all gsmarena friends; Samsung D880 is really disapointing to me i bought it yesterday from a samsung dealer in my country in PKR 23000, and sold it today at PKR 15000. As a mobile its good but as a double sim mobile its get zero marks from me; Reason is that "two sim mobile means a mobile which receive and send calls from both sims at same time" but this one can call from one sim at once if u want to call from second sim u have to restart the phone, then secondry sim become first. Every time u call from second sim u have to repeat the whole process. This mobile can only take or receive call at both sims at one time but when u want to dial acall from second sim u have to restart it and it take 35-40 seconds.
