Hi claire, the title 878 is just a chinese habbit of putting "8" at the end of any samsung model name, its a lucky number. And also, you are not able to put recordings as a ringtone straight away, u might need to convert it and place it in the "music" folder.

Hi, I was wondering if this phone has an "offline mode", because on the Europe Fun Club website, it says that the E870 has the offline function that can be used on the plane (without receiving any calls). Also, how do you add word/powerpoint documents to your phone and how would you connect the phone to the TV?

You'd need to buy a USB lead if your phone hasn't come with one already. They're usually pretty cheap on ebay, have a look there first to see if you can get a bargain. No point in spending a fortune if you're not gonna use it that often.
As for the memory, not sure how big it holds but i'd assume it will take whatever size memory card there is.

The phone does usually comes with a USB lead. It plugs into where the charger goes, on the left side. Very easy to use when u connect it to the samsung mobile studio thingy on your computer.

It will save your messages if you choose that option when you come to sending texts. You either have the option "send only" or "save and send", just choose which you prefer each time you send a text. Your texts will stay in your sent items until u delete them. Don't forget they count towards how many texts u can have in your inbox.

2) I don't think you are able to change the colour of the display menu...
I CAN! there are 4 options blue green orange/red and purple
4) I believe the languages the phone offer depends on where the phone was bought in.
well samsung always offers lods of languages id doesnt matter for which market the phoen wil be released, for example polish is always as one of the factory build in languages
8) You can save your contacts only in your phone, by clicking on the phonebook, and selecting "Management", clicking on the first option to change your settings!
U can choose to save a contact into ur simcard, u can copy all contacts from simcard to phoen and vice versa

had this phone for a while and to be honest it really is a solid performer. might not be able to compete with some newer phones but i don't care. it does what it does and does it well.
apparently it has a speaker :-)
enough said

hi!
if someone wishes his phone to ring and vibrate simultaneously, than you have to download special tones for it (MMF type).
i think this wount be deemed as commercial:

Here are some of the questions answered:
1) If you download the Samsung PC Studio, it will come with a Multimedia Manger, which can be used to convert a video (say wmv) to 3gp or mp4. You can download the phone's program at Samsung's Digital World - Global Download Center.
2) I don't think you are able to change the colour of the display menu; it's set to blue. As for the display picture, you can enlarge the icture by pressing the side buttons (for volume too) and then setting it as the display picture. The part you enlarged to will become your display picture.
3) The music quality is fair; although when compared with SE and Nokia phones, its' quality may not seem much, and also, sometimes files cannot be read. Files with long names are not accepted either!
4) I believe the languages the phone offer depends on where the phone was bought in.
5) As for the phone battery, I think you can try using other batteries offered for different models for Samsung. I think D900 works, but ask for more information!
6) Cell phone chains can be put on the top right side of the phone, which is at a very discreet place - not too obvious or flashy.
7) Although it seems to advertise for girls, I've seen many males owning the E870! =)
8) You can save your contacts only in your phone, by clicking on the phonebook, and selecting "Management", clicking on the first option to change your settings!
9) Yes, you can transfer the songs downloaded into the computer to your phone by connecting both pc and phone with the included USB cord, or inserting your memory card (not included). Download the Samsung PC Studio first when connecting via USB cord though!
10) The phone has a phone security and phone privacy, as in it will require a password whenever you click the buttons (not number pad), OR clicking your files and/or your messages.
While everyone has their own preferences for cell phones, I think you should take a while to research on the phone before buying it, to see if you will be satisfied with it! The phone is elegant and simple, with many basic functions. There's not a lot of room offered for customization (as in themes) though!
