oh yeah, and i forgot to say; because it has no dedicated 'C' button (probably because it would cause accidental button pressing as it would have been located a the bottom of the directional pad) the 'C' button is merged with the 'hang up' button (which takes you back to the main screen). Therefore when you are deleting the name it has automatically generated as a text recipient, if you press delete 1 time extra by accident it will display 'save to drafts, yes or no'. If you select 'yes' you have to go back throught the menus to find it in drafts and repeat the long winded sending procedure. If you choose 'no' thinking it will cancel the procedure and let you carry on with the previous process you are wrong. You lose the entire message and have to write the whole thing again. its even more annoying if this is caused by an accidental button press.
This phone looks amazing, and the battery life is fine (5 days left on overnight), the sms reminder is useful and you can turn the stupid beeps off with the volume keys on the side of the phone. (also these keys hide a flashlight function when held down).
But it has some really annoying flaws. You cannot fast forward aac music which is pathetic for a music phone. During charging the backlight stays on and keeps you awake(there is no disable like on the d600). It only has vibe then ring mode (not vibe & ring) which would be ok but it only gets 1 ring in before you miss the call. The touch buttons make accidental presses common. No voicedial. Viewing pictures causes a huge lag time. You cannot simply send via bluetooth you must pair devices (with password). The camera settings reset whenever you send mms. The video backgrounds are only available in the poorest quality and smallest size so they only cover 1/4 of the screen. Plugging the charger in is really fiddly and stops you from being able to hold the phone properly as it sticks out the side.
But the worst thing is the texting. There is no 'previous' button when selecting t9 words so sometimes you have to skip through 30 options, if you miss the one you want or the 'add' option you have to press the button another 30 times (if you miss it again it does your head in). Also there is no way of removing words from the dictionary. It gets worst... When sending it doesn't automatically save to sentbox so you don't know who you've replied to. Then it automatically chooses a friend from your phonebook to send to. When you choose from recent recipients it adds to the list instead of replacing. Therefore this time saving function takes longer than looking in the phonebook. From finishing a message to sending a message ends up taking 20-30 keypresses. (Also there is no option to text a landline so you can't send make the bt woman say stupid jokes!)
Overall i give it 10 for looks, 8 for build quality, 6 for amount of features but only 3 for performance.
Hey all! i got this fone almost as soon as it was launched, its amazinng handy and the looks are to kill! but the one unusual problem i am facing is that its nto charging when switched on, i have to charge it when its off, can anyone tell me what the problem is or is there any setting s for it?
Has anyone had the same problem as me,I bought a case for the E900 and it had a magnetic clasp to shut it.I found when i got a call and went to open the magnetic clasp it made the phone go to miss call, can anyone tell me why this happens,is it the magnetic reacting to the phone?
halo, i want buy a e900 but i think that the battery is not good, 4 days is the maximum. Is that true? tnx
seeing as i can only put 30 songs in a playlist, and only 4 playlist, does that mean i can only play 30 songs at a time and have to change playlist everytime one finishes ? can i not just play thema ll at one time ?
thank you for any replies
it's a very nice phone with lots of features, but do i need a password to send ringtones and pictures to my phone?cos i tried doing that and it asked for a password.
Ok, I've had it for 4 days now, and its passed the short term test. The phone is solid, takes wonderful pics (similar to SE 2 mpx, but auto-focus would be NICE). The mp3 player is SO much improved over previous samsungs, as is much of the OS. As usual, the software is fast, and solid. The phone does grab fingerprints like no other, but its really just more of an excuse to take it out, wipe it off, and admire it some more. :-D Touch sensitive buttons take about 10-15 minutes to get used to, then theyre great! I recomend the phone to just about anyone, but if you need something tough, that can take a beating, look elsewhere (samsung x700 is great) Cheers!
shyguy is back w a vengence... yup emz, i strongly recommend this fne. userfriendliness??? ull get used to it in less than a day;) yeah, too bad batt is a disapointment on this fne! tracy, turn off key volume by lowering down volume key on the side when fne is active and u cn even cancel it out. yeah its quite annoying for those mis-sensed (hung-up)buttons, tsk tsk! or u cn jst go to the sound settings and opt to turn keypad tone off. wow, 2gb! i jst bought mine bt the salespersonel sd that it might nt be able to handle this memory so i opted for the 256. 512 wasnt available and its what they suggestd. my gf has an e870, cn it also take a 2gb card? quality wise, yeah go for samsung... too bd i also dnt have the torch feature:( others on this fne??? I LOVE!!! bt nw im kinda falling for the d900, grrrr
I got this Phone tow days ago and i can say that its a great phone
the Camera its great (( Equal to the W800 which my bro has )) the sound is clear but not louder than the Samsung P850 (( which i owned ))
The software is fantastic no problem with it so far
i give this phone (9/10)
hi um im gettin the phone on tusday and im just wonderin if the phone is hard to use ?
thx bbz lyl
hey guys... here ya go....
YES!! YOU CAN USE A 2GB MicroSD/Transflash card in your E900~! I just tried out a SanDisk 2gb card in my own E900 tonite and it recognizes the entire memory capacity and shows all of it as available.
YES!! You can use an mp3 file as a ringtone, but you need to save it on the phone and NOT on the microSD card.
NO! You cannot not use an mp3 as a SMS alert.
YES!! The e900 is usually packaged with the data cable so you can connect to your pc and do all the file transfer tasks you want. If your phone doesn't include the softward cd, samsungs website has it available for download for free.
I don't count on camera in any phone brand,
simply because there is no normal optics, sensors (except for Panasonic's phones, because Panasonic does manufacture its own sensor) or camera features in any cell. phone today.
But in terms of Small memory MP3 players there is a huge progress! In this case Samsung is one step ahead of Nokia , because no Nokia phone has a Stereo Bluetooth yet!
SUGGESTION FOR GSM Arena:
In the bluetooth specs, to include the type of bluetooth profiles that phone support:
A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth), AVRC and others...
It is very important that the people know if the bluetooth is stereo or not, because new stereo bluetooth headphones by Motorola, Plantronics and Jabra are specificaly designed for A2DP (stereo bluetooth) phones!
If anything, bluetooth profiles of the phone can be found at http://www.phonescoop.com
GOOD NEWS ABOUT SAMSUNG (despite my negative view of Samsung's sound quality through the earpiece) is all new Samsung have Bluetooth and plus most of them even Stereo Bluetooth!!! (Including this e900 model).
you can set your MP3 as your rington.
Also, the samsung CD provides you to create a rington from your own music. If you make your own ringtones from the software, they are 'mmf files' and require less memories.
i got this phone last wedns and so far
this is AWSOME!!!!!!!
but gsm arean says this phone can be stand by up to 220 hrs but mine seems like way much less than that
and also, the handsfree button doesnt work with me. What about yours???
As an SMS ringtone NO - you can set MP3s as a regular ringtone. You can also set different tones for different people. But they must be in the phones memory, so you have to be careful with space!
