For all those South Africans… And people that got it on the MTN network… Mxit is just not going to work, software updates from MTN Service centers are a waste of time.. after much frustration I got rid of my phone, nothing against Samsung, but they should tease us with a qwerty and not allow us to use it properly. I have recently seeked ‘greener pastures’ and bought a Nokia e71.. much better and much more user friendly, no touchscreen, and a proper qwerty.
PS) If you have a Vodafone version then you are a-ok!! =)

> In reply to Jaco @ 2009-01-27 12:34 from ftb}I read most opinions and I can only comment that you should ask yourself this question: Do I want an advanced cell phone, pda, smart phone or an I phone. This Phone to me is a hybrid of sorts I think a glorified cell phone. A cell phone disguised as an I phone its not a smart phone or an i phone. so there I hope that helps you decide Jaco

I have had this phone for over a year having had Sony Ericson P900 then 910 then 990i's. I hated the 990i so looked away from Sony brand and for the first time went with this Samsung. Only a couple of small things have stopped me saying that this phone is perfect. The screen is great, the software is very good, once used to it (like any phone I think) and the camera is acceptable as a phone camera. The touch interface is nothing like the Iphone, but the phone is much cheaper and available on most networks. Battery life is good, better than my sonys, and call quality is superb. The keyboard is beautiful, quality feel and slide, easy to use and Samsung stupidly stopped making their phones with it, so I am now forced to look elsewhere for my new phone, which is a shame cos I really liked this one, but its getting old now and Im due an upgrade. Worst thing for me was that I bought it, with much hype from Samsung about their new flagship phone, but within months they almost ignored its existence competely and focused on all the similar phones without keyboards. I am now looking to replace it and sadly cannot find a Samsung with the same keyboard, so bye bye Samsung, it was nice while it lasted.

It's a great phone! I've just got it, and after a few minutes I allready understood how it worked (I'm not used to touchscreen). I've tested te camera, and eventhough it's 3mp, the photo's are very good too! I think people who are such gadget-fans should'n't post all those comments on this phone, we all know that you want the best there is. So something a little-less shouldn't be bad immediately.

I've had this phone for a year now, really pleased with it. The touch screen is not as intuitive as as an iphone but who's is? The screen can sometimes take a while to respond (a fraction of a second longer), it's not a deal breaker though. The Camera is rubbish - but remember.. IT'S A PHONE!. Good music player, with a 4gb card it can sometimes crash, I'm not sure if it's officially capable of accepting one though. It can be had to text using the screen, you need to see the characters when you hit the keys, I'd stick to the lovely built-in keyboard. All in all a great, stylish phone. One major flaw in my opinion is the software. You can't really use it as a pda, it does not synch with Outlook very well.
