Brett, 29 Jun 2011Hi All
I'm thinking about getting the Galaxy Ace, but people have mentioned several problems ... morebased on my Ace:
1. Battery would last for a day or more with average use IF you turn off gps, wifi, background data, and BT when not in use. also, turn of location settings, and packet data. you don't really need those that much. greatly improves battery.
2. Phone will lag if you have too much apps running simultaneously and if you have too much apps.
3. I have NEVER experienced texting lag even when in landscape before. I use Gingerbread Keyboard app.
those are based on my ace, had it for almost 2 months now.
Hey there everyone, I've got this phone a week ago, and I've done enough testing with it, so this is something that would help you out.....
Fact-1-BATTERY ISSUE: The ace comes with a standard 135o mAh battery, if you use only 2g network, and turn on packet data only while surfing the net,and downloading content, then you can save your battery, and obviously, by decreasing display brightness you can do it as well.
Fact-2-Video camera: with the official 2.3.4 update, you can capture video at 640 x 480 resolution, and using a soft(I'm not sure about the name) you can take it upto 800 x 600 pixels, so video cam is not a fact either
Fact-3-installing apps on the sdcard without rooting your phone- http://androidforums.com/samsu...ut-root.html go here and do as it is told, it works awesome
Fact-4-Flash support: Well, we know Ace's ARM v6/ARM11 processor didn't support flash, But, In 2.3.4 update, the default browser is flash supported. to be sure, after the update, go to gsmarena.com and see that all contents including the flash one are also seen on the browser
Fact-5-Ram size: Ram is 278mb for user available, but the total ram of Galaxy Ace is 470mb(confirmed by samsung), 192mb ram for OS and GPU support and, 278mb for user
well from my opinion ace is the best android you can get within that price, so don't hesitate at all to go for it, and If you need more, Buy HTC desire, only a few more rupees than ACE
hey! undoubtedly it is the best phone in its range only one issue regarding its internal space! it is a beautiful sleek smartphone!
app experience is good coz of gpu

mac, 25 Jun 2011Help needed please. My daughter bought a galaxy ace 2 weeks ago and its great, that is until i... moreReturn the phone set to the store and they will replace it. It's a defect if it acts like that.
Brett, 29 Jun 2011Hi All
I'm thinking about getting the Galaxy Ace, but people have mentioned several problems ... moreTypically midrange androids dont last more than 8-12hrs with heavy usage....
Coming to the LAG, i dont thnk it will fare too badly...There will be an occasional lag here n there for sure but wont be a deal breaker i guess...I use a 600mhz droid and its kinda ok...So Ace would definitely fare better provided that you use it intelligently...
No idea about Blackberry tho..
I'm thinking about getting the Galaxy Ace, but people have mentioned several problems i'd like to check out.
1. is it true that the battery barely lasts a day?
2. i've been told that the phone lags badly
3. also heard that the touchscreen lags while texting (especially in landscape).
(the other option is a standard Blackberry Curve 9300)
J_c, 29 Jun 2011hii...I would like to know whether ace allows to download / save new apps on sd card ?From what i have observed on my Galaxy Ace, yes. But it doesn't seem to notify the user. You can check at the settings options under "manage applications" if it was downloaded on the onboard memory or SD Card.
Oddly enough, some apps do not have any option of transferring itself to the SD Card. Fortunately you can download many app on android market to solve that problem.
Koi, 28 Jun 2011This is an absolutely adorable phone with GREAT functions (even without upgrading to gingerbre... more1.Try moving most of the apps to SD if possible
2.Decrease the no of homescreens as far as possible...(I personally use 3)
3.Delete widgets which you dont really use...THey are the main cause for the slowing down of the phone
4.Use a good Task killer...It wont boost battery significantly but will defninitely speed up the phone...I use Advanced Task Killer...
5.If you dont see an improvement even after following the above 4 steps, then just sit back and wait for 2.3 :)
hii...I would like to know whether ace allows to download / save new apps on sd card ?
hows battery life of this phone.
Also planning to buy this phone but confused between galaxy 3.
pam, 28 Jun 2011it does not support video calling.. yes.. use Skyfire browser.Your answer is not entirely correct, Skyfire does NOT support flash, it converts flashvideo into a supported videoformat to your device (some flashvideo's, sadly not all). Other flashcontent wil not be displayed.
kiekong, 26 Jun 2011Galaxy Ace Rocks! bought 3 months ago and never encounter any problem..Me too :-)
