Anonymous, 22 Apr 2016I got my Samsung Galaxy Avant about a year and a half ago, and have had an ongoing problem eve... moreThe phone get to hot I have to switch left and right ear position to relief from discomfort in my ears, I spend about $100 dollar twice to fix cracked mirror it can easily break. very poor quality, I don't trust t- mobile phone offer anymore.
I got my Samsung Galaxy Avant about a year and a half ago, and have had an ongoing problem ever since purchase. I talked to T-Mobile and they replaced it. I used the same battery. The replacement phone started having the same problem within a couple of weeks. The problem is it shuts down and restarts on its own. Obviously this causes dropped calls and interrupted operations of all sorts. The other issue is it gets very, very hot. Sometimes it happens when it is plugged in for charging. Other times, it will be as I'm talking or texting or playing a game. Does anyone know what causes these two issues? My husband has the same phone, so we switched batteries to see if it was a battery issue, and his had not had any problems at all. Mine continues to have these two problems.
Switched to T-mobile and bought this phone on clearance ($40) just to try out their cell service. That was over a year ago. I'm fairly impressed with the little thing. 16GB of storage and 1.5GB RAM is very generous for a budget phone. and It's pretty darn fast; even bloated, memory hog apps like Facebook open in less than 4 seconds. It had some hang-ups and glitches at first, but the latest revision of KitKat is absolutely perfect on this phone. Smooth as silk.
The display is a cheaper TFT display, and there is no auto brightness. Also, the camera. It gets the job done, but at 5 MP, it's nowhere near the caliber of an iPhone 6S or Galaxy S7, but that's expected in a budget phone.
It's got a nice rubberized back that slides into your pocket well, and it isn't gigantic so it's fully operable with one hand like my old iPhone was.
One other thing though, if you're tap-texting, if you go too fast it doesn't seem to work at all. Typing on an iPhone I can type as fast as I want and it seems to work fine. This one, I end up with nothing but typos. Guessing the touchscreen on this little guy is budget-grade, but swiping works fine.
I totally disagree with all of these comments . You need to read the phone menu in other to know how to used it. I CAN MAKE A 3 WAY CALL AND DO ALL OF THESE THINGS YOU GUYS ARE NOT ABLE TO DO WITH THE SAME PHONE. So pleas read the phone menu before posting negative comments about it, Thanks.
Bad I can't make a 3 ways call and that can be done by any cheaper phone
My friend upgrade from his old phone and the first couple weeks he had this phone he already wanted to upgrade again
Ren, 25 Feb 2016You're comparing an iphone to a lower model samsung phone... if you overheat we will tell your... moreThe price difference doesn't mean the more expensive is better . That's like saying the Nissan GTR shouldn't be faster than the Ferrari . Lamborghini. Porsche . Because it cost less but kicks all there buts .
galaxy avant is way better because you get free apps and music unlike iphone where you have to purchase everything you want. And iphones are way overrated because your paying like 4-900$ for a phone and some people get them because they want to fit in with the crowd or other people.
Yonosoyel, 10 Feb 2016Throw it in a river and buy an iPhone. You're comparing an iphone to a lower model samsung phone... if you overheat we will tell your wife to throw you in a river and upgrade to Channing Tatum... do you see the difference? lol
in my area... Galaxy Avant, $150 - iPhone 5, $399
see the difference? now if he had bought a Galaxy S5 it would be a better comparison, in which case he would throw the iPhone in the river because they're garbage... on top of that they're meant for people who are "technology challenged".
heating is samsung problem not a fault that is how many samsung phones are
I started using this phone about two months ago after any short call or short browse it becomes very hot pls help me solv dis problem because i can't buy new phone
pros of this phone: price, size (ish, slightly bigger than the Iphone 5)
cons of this phone: camera quality (!!!), slow charging, slow preformance, bulk apps, quiet speakers, freezes, doesn't update, restarts, the way the phone looks (if you like the sleek minimalistic look of an iphone, this phone disapoints), quiet phone call volume, calls drop, texts don't send.
Best part of the phone: price
Worst part of the phone: everything else, especially camera quality
This phone has the worst camera quality I've ever seen on a phone, and the screen disapoints too. Constantly freezes even if the phone is in mint condition. Everything else is just basic if you're used to the bulk apps that come with all Samsung phones that slow down the rest of the phone. This phone just made me want an iphone even more.
Its a good phon eit has a great and smooth screen it just has an awful cmaera that i dont like. Also it doestn download pictures for me and the phone restars adn freezes alot. Now that i think o fit the phone is not a very good phone
