I am from Nigeria ..please aw did u update ur note to pics...I ve my fone rooted here in lagos
please kindly help
I am from lagos Nigeria.
After almost a week of using the Sonyericsson LiveView accessory (a small bluetooth device that alerts you of calls, SMS, email and other extra features) with the SG Note, here are some if my thoughts.
I got this nifty device for about US$47 (Php 1950) at a local electronics shop in Alabang, and i believe this is the first time that this unit has been commercially available. The Sony retail outlets here were only bundling it with the SE Active smartphone for around Php 14k. The LV has been released since late 2010 and it was sold almost US$100 but now you can find it being sold for a third of that amount on Ebay.
You can see an image of my LV here:
Despite the harsh reviews it had since its retail due to its consistent disconnection with Android smartphones, I was still quite intrigue with the idea that you get to read text, email, social network updates, get news feeds, control media, find your phone by sound alerting it, know who's calling, alert you with calendar events, and with plug-ins, you get to do more like sending SMS template messages, remote and see a live picture of your camera operation of your smartphone... all on your wrist without the need to get it out of your pocket or bag, or getting that perfect image shot with yourself in it.
It was good that SE (now just Sony) let this be paired with other Andriod devices, but unfortunately some of the useful plug-ins are a miss with the Note, like the live camera remote control app SE wrote, or a remote control for slide presentations. The default calendar alert app was not working at all.
The promised 4-day power supply was only a mere 12 hours real usage for me! Maybe I can get more usage time if I turn off the vibration alert of the LV.
Yes, there was truth to the constant disconnection with your phone unit. However, I discovered that a developer wrote an app to help keep the LV connected called LiveView Charm.
The LV has an OLED 1.3" screen, and the time will not be constantly shown to save on power. You need to press one off the corner button to tell the time that stay illuminated for just above 20 seconds.
So what's this got to do with the Note and what does work? The LV is good enough as a convenience to checking your essential alerts and messages. I think the LV is more so useful for people using Android tabs. I have always been using my Note as my main music player using the Samsung HS3000 stereo bluetooth ear set, and remote controlling is more convenient on your wrist than just feeling the controls of the ear set. I have not missed any of my SMS and i can instantly reply with 15 custom message templates using SendSMS plug-in. SimpleGmail lets you read the first parts of the email. There's also a plug-in called Naview that connects to Google maps and transmits the vicinity area to the LV screen.
The real story was that I really was needing a wrist watch, as I was constantly having to take the Note out since my watch broke, and the LiveView was something more than a watch. It did last till I got home twice or so in the last 6 days of usage. Sony came out with the latest version of the LV called the SmartWatch, but it's US$150. It has claimed that one charge can last 5 days of use. Well, the Liveview is just ok for me. I think I'll wait for the next generation of smart watches with e-ink that would have grater efficiency in battery.

For those of you who are interested in the Otterbox casings, I had a go at them with my SG Note:
Defender Series (Php3500 retail in the Philippines):
Commuter Series (Php 2850 retail in the Philippines):
I just wished they weren't that expensive (Php 1000 more than suggested retail price in the US).
