Wow' nice phone, almost perfect, how much could it be in philippines?
Anonymous, 01 Apr 2017Yeah, it is funny because Apple's speed makes the S8 look 10 years old.Your comment makes you look 10 years old.
I'm one of many users that believe on Samsung devices. but of late I have been asking myself why I'm I buying these devices. I recently switched a company of 1000 users from Samsung Tablets and Phones for apple products. The main reason is your after purchase support is horrible. I'm not talking about screen cracks or warrant repairs. I'm talking about software support. I have used all the Samsung Galaxy devices from S1 to S7, on top of that I had all the Notes devices expect Note 7 for obvious reasons; but for all the Samsung devices I have own none of them have received software update to the latest version of Android. I don't expect Samsung to update S1 to Nougat, but S6, S7 , Note 4, Note 5 the hardware is capable of running Android 7.0 My S7 is still running 6.0.1 with December 2016 Android patch level. These days android is releasing patches to the operating system on monthly bases. When are we going to get Jan 2017 patch, Feb 2017 patch and now March patch; leave alone the 7.0 update?
I wonder would I really recommend the business to buy S8 or S8+, knowing that the device will never get the latest software update? or I rather tell them to go with the products from the other manufacturers.
These patches are essential to ensuring that the users information is secure and not venerable to attacks and yet we are sitting with 3 months old patches.
It's really disappointing when you hear other devices are getting the updates and us with S7's we are sitting with the three year old OS.
Will the S8 and S8+ get Android O, or you will have to buy the new device to get that software update.
Everyone is saying that the Galaxy S8 is a slight improvement well every new phone normally is!
*The Galaxy S7 was just the S6 with a slight look and feel tweak and newer hardware, and a less bloated UI/UX!
*The LG G6 it the refined version of the LG V20 which was a refined version of the V10 all with that years current top tier gear in it and less bloated UI!
*The iPhone is just always slight improvements they have not done anything new in 4 or 5 years and even back then it was small!
*The Sony Xperia has not done anything huge other than 4K and super slow motion in years it has all been small hardware and software tweaks!
And when people/company's do something new it is called a Gimmick!
* Samsung Curved screens and now almost no bezels/chins a gimmick!
* Sony 4K screen a gimmick!
* LG Dual Cameras one wide screen a gimmick
* LG & Motorola with Friends & Moto Mods a Gimmick
so on and so forth!
Savor, 01 Apr 2017Sure. Let your shallowness fool you.
Same rear camera as last year's
Same amount of RAM
... moreiPhone same amount of RAM as last year and year b4
iPhone same CPU as last year! (I think!)
iPhone same design as last 4 or 5 years
iPhone same screen for the last few years
Every iPhone is just a slight improvement (If Any!) on the same thing last year!
Not in the market to buy till Nokia and Pixel 2 comes out. However looking at specs and price to LG has the better value
I don't understand why Samsung still hasn't included double tap to wake yet. I use Wakeup Touch Nexus and hover my hand over the phone to wake my Samsungs but Google added 2x to wake on the Pixel with 7.1.1. LG still has the best implementation as my Pixel won't always wake up from a double tap. And it has KnockCode.
Samsung finally let go of the physical home button with their Galaxy flagships because Apple finally did it last year. But still only 7.0 and still no 2x tap to wake. Easy to just copy what Nokia, LG, HTC, and Sony has had for years. I bet Samsung will finally include once Apple does it. Monkey see, monkey do.
Just read an awful, hypocritical review of the LG G6 on Gizmodo. Made me LOL. Whatever LG tries to do to please, they get criticized. They still have that extra rear lens that Samsung still hasn't included. Waiting for a better 8 from a better brand... Nokia 8.
Savor , 02 Apr 2017I finally checked out the S8 at Best Buy just a couple minutes ago. It's ok. Kinda like whatev... moreS7 Is Way A Lot Different From S6, As For S8 Is Close To S7 With Bits Of Differences.
For Americans, go to your local Best Buy and check out this S8 SD835 variant. When the screen is off, it looks like any typical slab phone like a taller jet black iPhone 7.
I only dig that it is narrower and shorter than last year's S7e while packing a taller/bigger display. But having your thumb reach out to the notification toggles can be a challenge now. And the curves aren't so pronounced similar to what we saw with the Note7. The curves on the S7e can be downright annoying when accidentally pressed from the side.
I like the S8 design enough but underneath all that is really last year's hardware. The SD835 only seems to be a tad faster than the 820. Like 10% faster. The laggy UI is still present. Again, pick the odd numbered years.
G3, G5, G7?
S3, S5, S7?
P7, P9, P10?
Z3 was the greatest Xperia Sony ever made. LG G4 (and V10) were a bootloop nightmare. The iPhone 5 series looked better than the 4 series thanks to the 5s and aluminum back vs fingerprint magnet glass back. The iPhone 7 was a step back though.
The greatest 4 was the Note 4. The greatest 6 was the Nexus 6 or 6P. Sorry, iPhone 6 and S6 edge. The greatest 8 was the One M8. The S8 is basically a big upgrade as going from Huawei P9 to P10. Boring upgrade if you look beyond the design.
If you have an S7/S7 edge, you really aren't missing out. Heck, if you have an S6/S6 edge, you should be content with it. This S8 is catered to iPhone users that are tired of the iPhone 6 series design or Apple and think the S8 looks cool and nothing more.
The rest should know better that this S8 is only a worthy upgrade if you have an S5 or any 2014 or older flagship.
Galaxy S8 and S8+ is very disappointing phone by Samsung it's predecessor is better than this here is the 5 reason. 1. 5.8 and 6.2 inch display is a very big size and the battery capacity is only 3000 mAh and 3500 mAh 2. uncomfortable to catching one hand. 3. Screen Resolution is very high (1440x2960) so battery is draining fast. 4. S8 and S8+ 4GB ram Capacity same of that its predecessor S7 edge. 5. 12MP dual pixel Camera is same of that it's predecessor S7 and S7 edge. So only full screen size is a new feature and nothing any new in this
The fault is that Samsung made the S7 series too good that the S8 just looked an incremental upgrade from it. But still good enough for them to earn my money tho 😂
Anonymous, 02 Apr 2017Appl is 3 years behind. My S6 by samsung is better the the iphone 7apple is iOS while samsungs is android
amoled display cant produce real black colours, it shutting off pixels tuning into black! resulting in fake black color
u might use all black wallpaper, themes including browser to reduce power consumpsion
who want dead screen by the way?
amoled cant use single pixel cuz the pentile always rely on a sub!
Appl is 3 years behind. My S6 by samsung is better the the iphone 7
Hephaestus8, 01 Apr 2017Beautiful. The best smartphone ever! I finally checked out the S8 at Best Buy just a couple minutes ago. It's ok. Kinda like whatever.
I do like how shorter and narrower it is compared to my S7e and G5. The S8+ has the same width as my S7e but just taller. But when I went through the screens and scrolling it really fast, you can still see the hesitation and stutter. The taller screen also makes reaching the toggles a little harder.
With the Pixel, it simply flows with amazing fluidity from one menu to the next. The cam didn't look improved at all seeing that it is still using last year's but with tweaked up software processing. Ahem, Pixel HDR+ ripoff.
I talked to a couple of Best Buy employees inside before I left. Three of us were talking like a trio of phone dorks. One has a Pixel XL and the other has a Droid Z. Both love their phones. The Pixel XL owner was saying the S8 was just like a whatever upgrade. Ditto from me.
Taller screen, more narrower and shorter footprint than the S7e, and Bixby. Big whoop! I do like it in orchid. But both black or orchid show fingerprints like a dirty w*ore after a 2 min gangbang.
The Note8 will look 95% like the S8+ while the iPhone Edition will look 80% like the S8 but shorter and without the curves. The S9 will look 90% like it too. I don't see the big deal with the new design when everyone will follow this bezel-less template soon.
Performance is what matters to me and the S8 still stutters like it is still 2012.
