you need to root your phone:

then install a Clockworkmod 6. this is a Custom recovery menu(older versions are fine)

you are now ready for a custom ROM installation.

Pristine installation is the best way to flash a ROM. by cleaning you system, your phones SD card, external sd card you will avoid most problems that arises.

any custom ROMS are fine (cyanogen is still the best though, IMHO). if they require other custom recovery, just flash that recovery.

remember to make BACKUPS. It will save your life

it is very bad battery backup and front camera is var-est clarity it bad..............

its ady 2.5 years since i brought it, its lag at stock rom but greatly improved after i installed custom rom cm11. phone's power consumtion quite high, need to charge 2 times a day even tho i brought new battery.

Hi! I'm using Galaxy W for 2.5 years and it's doing good, but it lags a lot. Software update is not possible, so is there any way to stop it? Pl confirm.

This Old buddy of mine is one of the best beast i have ever encountered with, although is not intended for gamers but.. mine now Running Kitkat 4.4.2- Cyanogen Mod 11 by Sir Arco68... Samsung has discontinued support to this handset that runs Kitkat smoothly... why ??
