Apolo is a program for flasing your phone
You need to instal apolo v4.1.21, and drivers before you do anything
Firmware is in BIN and IMG files
All you need is on the internet,you just need to look and reed

thx jolly very comprehensive.but for ur first post all those link r no longer fxnal,so does the 2nd one cover thhe 1st ones?cuz i hv a i55w.and wats the apollo and s60 and where do i get them?my fon blanked and i hope its just a software prob.it just wnt go to the main screen,just the samsung on and off logo

Steps to update Firmware
1. download the apollo and also the s60 download drivers, and of course the firmware.
2. off the phone, and press and hold the keys 7 and * and the on button, all 3 keys together.
3. When the phone shows "Modem Download", connect the USB port to PC, it should automatically prompt you to install the phone driver, point it to the drivers that you have downloaded.
4. Off the phone again, if you can't power it off, just unplug the battery.
5. press and hold the keys 1 and 4 and the on button, all 3 keys together.
6. when there are 3 lines of words in the phone, connect the USB port to PC, it should automatically prompt you to install some other drivers, point it to the downloaded files again.
7. verify that you have the two drivers installed in the Control Panel.
8. REBOOT PC!
9. Run the apollo software, and on the phone while pressing key 4 and 7, all 3 keys together, when the phone shows "Modem Download", make sure "SMD" is unchecked, and just press "All Download", (you will need to select the firmware files downloaded)
10. about 4 minutes later, check the firmware version using *#1234# and use the code 0000000.
Just follow the instructions!!!
THE PHONE IS RALLY GOOD!
WITH GOOD TASK MANAGER BATERI LAST FOR 3-4 DAYS

Anybody knows how to update the firmware?
i have i550JPHH2 on my fone, what is the latest version?
I want to update my fone firmware. I have even tried the PC suite software updater but it gives an error. If any one knows or has a latest version of the firmware then do post.

I m using i550w for last 6 months without any hassels.Phone has lots of features only hitch is they have not provided detailed operation manual with it. So it takes time & have lots of confusion to lern to operate its advance features. Oterwise its a quality product.

could anybody please help me finding a solution to a problem i am encountering now. my SGH-i550w suddenly stopped sending mesaages all the features are okey but sending messages. everytime i send message it always appear "application closed:messaging" please

i jus buy tis phone and dont know why my phone cant connect to internet. Is it need setting anythings?
besides, the spec say got GPS but i press the GPS, it din show anything... i feel abit regret to buy this phone...

I have this phone for six months now, and I agrre it's a very nice phone. The only thing not so good, is the battery life, but only if you like ''playing'' with it (like me), that enjoys messing with the phone, going through the menus, and playing games (I have more than 50 games in it, and it's very nice to use them in the large screen), then the battery will drain in a few hours. Based on my experience of using i550w for 8 months i conclude that : 1. The batt life is not that bad, depends on ur usage. Normal use of texting, short voice call, music/radio, the batt could last about 2-3 days. But when i use wifi or browse the internet using 3g connection the batt drains out very quickly. 2. Trackball navigation is love it or hate it situation. After frequent use i have nothing to complain. Although sometimes i thought this fone would be better using regular d-pad. 3. I luv the screen size, the quality is typical samsung handset, great indoor, poor outdoor. 4. The camera quality is above average for a non camera-centric fone. 5. I admire the sonic exp. The sound is very crisp n clear! Esp if u have a high quality headset thx to its 3.5mm audio port. Overall, this fone is great, based on its price/performance. If u r looking for a perfect fone, i guess u'll never find one because it eventually depends on ur personal taste n ur need.

This fone may not be the best fone to date, but definetely be the best fone i've ever had so far. I've been using this fone for 8 months now n have no prob at all. I enjoy every features esp the wifi. If i want to change my fone in not so distance future it gonna be samsung jet that unfortunately hasn't enter indonesia. Samsung rules!
