this fone iz realy a fantabolus for the masseging uze...
however battery iz the main problem of it
but great pleasure using synbian fones....

Okay had this fone for about a week now. Here is what i think.
1) Love the big screen, i dont think there is any other 2,6 inch candy bar out there, and when watching you tube u can really see the difference over a 2,4.
HOWEVER, the sunlight legibility is absolutely abysmal!! So great screen, INDOORS ONLY!
2) The track ball - very love or hate. I love it. Managed to customize the sensitivity to suit me. And its like a poor man's blackberry, he he.
3) Keypad is awesome, love it, love it, love it!
The keys are large and soft and make typing a joy.
4) Fast interface, its super quick. My last fone was the disastrous Sony Ericsson G900, so its nice to finally be moving again, speed wise.
5) Camera - had some settings missing - no two-stage button and no separate macro mode. This made me very concerned because i often take pictures of written stuff like magazine articles and news articles, business cards etc. Thats my main use for mobile fone cam. So i need that to be in focus, and what a pleasant surprise, it focuses on them PERFECTLY! No need for separate macro, i think it senses it on its own.
6)Battery - the phone's biggest weakness - awful - the worst i ever experienced.
7) FM Radio is attrocious and might as well not be there - they should take lessons from Sony Ericsson on how to implement FM radio into mobile phones. Signal and sound is weak on the Samsung.
8)No notifications LED - they could have used the trackball lighting for that - would have been cool.
9)Music player is rather insipid.
10)Internet is on par with the others, but a treat on the larger than average screen. Wifi is fast and strong, but POWER HUNGRY!
But on balance i give this phone the thumbs up - for the price i paid, you could hardly do better (and you could do a lot worse). The only other low cost wifi option is Nokia e51 - and no, we wont be going there.

I have the phone like one month or so and i like it, it's quite good!
And I have a question...
If I set my wallpaper to be default, and not some picture, i guess it should be a theme wallpaper but it isn't! It's an boring animation that loops on and on, advertising the navigation feature that phone has! I don't want that, i want my wallpaper to be a theme wallpaper!
If anyone knows what should i do, please tell me?

I tried to flash my samsung i550w with i550PMHE3 using Apollo ver 4.1 , by mistake i put a wrong file for Modem. But next time onwards i can't install Modem any more. The Modem button is dsabled. PDA button is enabled and i can install the PDA anytime. How can i remove the wrong Modem file flashed and re-flashl the modem file. can some body help me?

There is no call recording att all on this phone !!!
i tryed TotalRecall and ,.... but They Not Worked At all .
I realy Angry When Connect Phone To pc .

The phone is great.Symbian rocks!!!endless themes from N95 all of them are working great,good at games,looks really cool big screen but in the sun light it sucks visibility is poor.Finger print magnet!Track ball is nice but is rubish when you want to navigate witx Garmin Mobile XT moving the scroll is almost imposible(sad),but at the price of 190 Euros is GOOD and i have life waranty:))))The camera is great it takes beautiful pictures,autofocus is doing it's job,3.5 mm jack very usefull.9/10.C'mon Samsung more Symbian phones!!!!!!!!!!!

hi. i bought a samsung i550 two days back. from the day i bought it, no mass storage mode, nor the pc suite mode is working. when i connected the cable, the drivers were prompted to be installed. i could even update the firmware, but still i couldnt use it with data transfer or pc suite mode. someone please help me as soon as possible.

Well imo, its a great phone for the price. Really similar to nokia n95 excluding the trackball which aint so easy at first, but u'll get used to it.. GPS works really good with Garmin Mobile XT, and with lil tweaks, you can install Nokia software init ;)
