had mine for 6 months and regret getting it, battery life 30hrs on standby, no voice dial and keeps slowing down or hanging up.
At first glance the specs seem impressive, 800Mhz processor, 320 x 480 pixels capacitive screen w/ 16M colors, etc. Sounds like a real winner right? WRONG! Agonizingly slow, frequently lags and hangs, "capacitive" screen w/c does NOT pinch zoom is a joke, worse than useless 800Mhz processor. The Spica is a hodge podge of seemingly "good" specifications all jumbled up in a device that doesn't know what to do with them.
Recently sold my Spica and bought an entry-level LG P-350. The difference in performance between the two was amazing. This 600Mhz upstart is simply lightyears away in performance compared to the heaving pile of cr*p that is the Spica.
I've rooted my Spica and installed Froyo. That made things slightly bearable, but in the end I decided that I've had enough and sold it. My Android experience was completely tainted by the Spica. Not so w/ my el cheapo P-350. It was everything I hoped for in the Spica but sadly wasn't.

One thing I can't seem to fix is it's camera, well as warned by samdroid.net, not available yet but soon, so I'm using my phone just for cool internet now and soon, hopefully will get update from samdroid (cyanogen) for camera. IF you're gonna find out, tell me

Anonymous, 20 Jun 2011can i really upgrade my galaxy spica i5700 to 2.2?
or what is the use of cyanogenmodim not good at explaining stuff, but applying cyanogenmood is like "jailbreaking" your spica.. there are advantages and disadvantages of rooting and applying cyanogenmod.. one bug that i found after rooting my phone is compass isn't working properly, but who needs compass anyway
i think it would be better if you go to samdroid.net, or google up on how to root galaxy spica, how to upgrade to froyo, etc.. im not an expert in spica, but i learned stuffs about spica by researching on google
people expect too much from this phone, well what do you expect from a cheap android phone, if you want a phone with better specs, then go buy an iphone 4 or a samsung galaxy S2
but for now, im happy with my spica after applying cyanogenmod + yonip kernel =) if you know how to tweak this phone, you'll love it..
